A group calling itself the Real IRA has threatened to kill more PSNI officers and voiced its opposition to Queen Elizabeth II's state visit to Ireland next month.

In a statement, a masked member of the Real IRA told a crowd in a Derry cemetery: 'The Queen of England is wanted for war crimes in Ireland and not wanted on Irish soil'.

He said dissidents will do their best to ensure their message is conveyed to the monarch.

He added that the police were 'as liable for execution as anyone regardless of their religion, cultural background or motivation'.

It follows the murder earlier this month of Catholic PSNI Constable Ronan Kerr, who was killed by a bomb in Omagh, Co Tyrone.

Some people just don't know when they aren't wanted.

In protest to the powerless figurehead monarch of another country we don't like, we're going to kill a bunch of innocent people who are just doing their jobs.

    Makes perfect sense.

According to this lot of complete jackasses. The sheer fact she was born into royalty is reason enough for them to blame her.

Idiots should stay in their own country and leave us the fúck alone. We don't want a British terrorist group attacking our country.

Seen them on the news earlier. They look like an overweight, rag tag, redneck militia. Their marching was completely out of sinc and the lad that read out the speech was struggling to string a few sentences together :pac:

Their uncles / aunties have resorted to legit drug dealing and protection rackets. The dumb brats don't get a taste therefore the resorting to making loud bangs. In any other countries the slow kids stay down the back and do farting jokes....here they are taken seriously.

Give live Liz Windsor her day in the sun. If they're do disrupt it, which they'll try - then it is in their nature. Mugging 84 year old ladies is their limit now.

police were 'as liable for execution as anyone regardless of their religion, cultural background or motivation'

    Oh for feck's sake
Who the hell do they think they represent? :(

    Tossers
And obviously as the queen is only appearing in the 26 counties they are targeting venues in the republic

I thought we had moved on from this crap

Are we heading back to the days of bombs and army checkpoints along the border?

I reckon (seriously) that we should bring back the death penalty for terrorists who kill army personnel & emergency services

    Freedom Fighters my ass

These guys are simply cowardly criminal thugs. They're not Islamic fundamentalists or extremists. You don't see any IRA suicide bombers.

Round up a few of them and execute them. That'll break the will of the rest of these dinosaurs. They are in no way willing to die for their cause.

Just wondering about this. I know that the media protect their sources and all that but at the end of the day, these are murderers. Now, there was a lot of media at that "briefing" by that terrorist - they were obviously informed of this beforehand. Why didn't even one journalist (in light of the murder of that PSNI lad) send a subtle message to the PSNI that this was going to happen? They could have come in and arrested all of them couldnt they?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,850 ✭✭✭FouxDaFaFa

Something I don't get (and forgive me if I'm being simplistic or naive), why can't these people be arrested? A group of people have admitted to murder and conspiring to murder. I know one or two individuals have been arrested in connection with the Kerr murder but this entire group was complicit in it. Then they appear in public and make threats to carry out further attacks. As laughable as the speech and their march was, you don't need to look intimidating to plant a bomb or shoot someone.

They should look to the true British presence on the island and they will know they can't do anything.

The journo would be putting his own and his families lives on the line. Maybe intellegence does get passed from journo's but obviously its never revealed in the public domain. The likes or the RIRA seem to be well infiltrated judging by the amount of failed attacks they have had over the years.

The media has an obligation to try and stay neutral in these circumstances. Granted a lot of them throw in personal opinion (eg tabloids), but a journalists career is basically over if potential interviewees get wind they are informing the police of their location.

    edit:
There's also a good chance they themselves could be murdered if they did give out the information.
