Looks like a winner ^^. Although the guy demonstrating isn't going through the full range of motion by the looks of it. I guess the purpose is to get the heart pumping so it's probably not an issue.

Might give this a try after back day tomorrow :)

    So it's:
    1) 10 half burpees
    2) 20 half mountain climbers
    3) 20 quarter squats
For 3 minutes at a time?

This kind of stuff floats around the web like it's science. It's basically moving around more than you normally do for time. Honestly, and I'm not just saying this to sound like a dick, that's just a high intensity warm up. Do 3 minutes of that a day and you'll just get better at doing that for 3 minutes. You won't burn much fat, you won't get much fitter and for 3 minutes of each day you'll look like a kid who needs to do a wee wee.

I'll go one better. I'll have my 5 year old son do it and report back. He moves kind of like that when he's excited about going somewhere anyway so I'll just tell him we're going to see Hop.

I just did the second one and found it very easy! :D

Fair enough. I thought it was hard anyway when I first did it. Started incorporating more of these type things into my training and noticed big improvement in fitness, especially for soccer. I usually do long runs, HIIT and compound weights for my training and thought I was fairly fit but when I did this for the first time could barely finish it. Anyway its only an aul workout, no need ta get pissed off at it ;)

Whats the purpose of taking your t-shirt off to do this? Is it to reduce the weight while doing the quarter squats?

He can only do quarter range movements when he adds the weight of a T-shirt....

I am going to try this tomorrow and I'll report back.

If it's a BJJ warmup would he not be better simulating a sprawl instead of a half assed burpee??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 70 ✭✭Bruckey2345

Ya ,that is pretty hard ,not impossible ,but hard.

Thats only 3 minutes if your really serious about training you should try his 9 minutes workout.

Towel rows separate the men from the boys.

It's funny how he's topless while the poster is a photo of a bodybuilder who has his top on.

    Usually it's the opposite!

50 - 60 year old oul wans are doing this kind of stuff (with better form) in boot camps all round the country.

I swear i passed a boot camp in St Annes Park the other night that were doing 20 KB swings, 30 Burpees, 40 mountain climbers for what looked like multiple rounds. That would be waaaaaay harder then this.

It's facinating that this gets a thread of it's own on a fitness forum.

Ya its a real shocker that someone posted a video of simple workout on the Health & Fitness forum

Whats not a shocker is the customary negative, nonconstructive, elitist comments.

And show me a video of a 60 year old woman doing this workout properly and I'll delete my Boards account!

Sorry, i didn't mean that to be directed at you. It was more at the fitness industry and it's "Do super awesome metabolic training in 4 seconds" type of stuff that keeps coming out.

I genuinely apologise if you took that to be directed at you, it wasn't meant that way at all.

In fairness Barry did give some constructive criticism. There's only so many ways you can say it's a bad workout, which it is. The guy is doing rows with a towel, he's basically just moving his arms.

The idea is a good one, 3 or more exercises for time (more than 3 minutes though) but the application is poor. Look at the metcon thread and you'll see lots of much better ideas.

Whata ya on about, Barry tore this workout a new arse and dude you put up the towel video, not me:)

All I ever said about the workout is 'its hard, give it a go', I never said that its the best workout ever and all ya need to do anymore is 3min a day.

Will look at that Metcon thread, cheers
