The Official Summer Transfer Gossip Thread

Well there looks like there could be a lot of movement this summer as a lot of teams look to strengthen their squads and dispose of a few players too.

Spurs could see 5 or 6 players leaving with Keane, Dos Santos, Bassong and Kranjcar all looking likely to leave with question marks over the futures of Hutton and Jenas.

Villa too have a number of people looking likely to leave with friction between the manager and some of the more senior players causing issues Dunne, Carew and friedal look certain to leave.

Liverpool look likely to dispose of Joe Cole after the midfielder has had a torrid time at Liverpool spending more time in the stands injured or suspended than on the pitch, and Milan Jovanovic, David Ngog and Christian Poulsen could follow closely behind him.

United could see players coming in rather than leaving a real workman like march to the title has showed that Paul Scholes may finally be at the end of his career much to the delight of every other team and Owen is also likely to leave however there are some promising youngsters who may be able to fill the gap temporarily? Tom cleverly has impressed at Wigan this Season. A new keeper however could be on the cards with VDS retiring Neur or Da Gea would seem many fans preferred choices.

Arsenal could do with another Center Back to line up beside Djouru(sp?) and a midfielder Scotty Parker anyone? Although possibly a more direct player may be needed as well when tippy tappy isn't working.

Chelsea could see someone capable of taking over from Lampard come in as his injury early in the season showed how important he is and the return of Daniel Sturridge may leave the door open for Drogba to make an exit.

Bolton could finally be forced to let Cahill leave as a mounting wage bill increases their debt and Lee may also garner attention as his outstanding displays all season will have raised a few eye brows.

Wigan could also lose a key player in James McCarthy as his manager recently stated he could potentially play for anyone Rodgella and N'Zogbia may also be in danger of being poached as Sunderland Lurks.

Sunderland have a huge squad now not seen since the days of Keane although it's quality has improved drastically this has put huge pressure on their wage bill and they are making significant losses that may require some player sales before any purchases are made.

Newcastle look set to stay in the premier league for another season and Manager Alan Pardew will hope he can spend some of that money he got for Andy Carroll. he'll be looking for a right back and center back and maybe someone new up front but he should be able to comfortably do so with said money(if made available).

Everton will hope they can keep their players and strengthen this summer but on limited funds and a large wage bill Moyes may be forced to sell before he can buy.

Man City well anything could happen there Boateng may end up leaving given he is third choice right back but Given looks certain to leave as he continues his search for a winners medal before he retires and here will be no end to the number of suitors as Villa Spurs and Arsenal will all surely be interested and that is just from the premier league.

Wolves will have some job on their hands to keep their team together if they go down but if they stay up O'Hara would likely sign on a permanent basis and Mick will want to strengthen his team.

West Ham look like they will go down leaving the likes of Ba , Parker and Cole likely to leave.

Blackburn are a bit of an enigma currently with their new owners and I'm not sure whats going to happen their.

Blackpool should be able to keep the most of their squad together but Adam looks likely to leave with several clubs interested and DJ Campbell may get a few offers as well.

Birmingham if they stay up could bring in a few people especially with the prospect of European football next year. Bently could stay and I'm sure McLeish already has a list of names he would like to see and he will hope he can keep Johnson and Dann.

Wet Brom will hope to keep their team together and Roy will look for solid steady players to keep them up for another season.

Fulham will look to continue their transition from a steady team to one with a bit more flair in keeping with Hughes philosophy although on a budget.

Stoke City will no doubt hope to bring in a few more flair players in the mold of etherington as Pulis continues to move away from the image stoke have created for them selves.

Feel free to discuss La Liga, Bundesliga, Airtricity League or whatever I was going to do a bit for Galway United but that would take all day to do who needs to be brought in :o. Sorry as I got to the end I got a little bored and tired of typing so I did less and less on each club

Friedel might retire but he hasn't had any issue with the manager.

Are we using this for confirmed transfers as well?

    Already confirmed are:

    Sahin to Real (£8.8m)

Taiwo and Mexes to AC Milan.(Both Free).

Sahin for 8.8 seems good business. Was his contract running out? They got Ozil for a small sum last summer and it turned out to be a great signing. Cue Chelsea's 30m for Kaka..........

Sahin, Ozil and Alonso in midfield is very exciting.

Its also highly un-Mourinho like. It will be interesting to see how they line up next year alright. I think they'd need one of their midfielders to be a proper ball winner.

Diarra being linked with United again,he does a decent job-nothing fancy but keeps the midfield moving.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,571 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

I expect all of the following to be linked with every single big European club this summer:

Sanchez, Cavani, Lavezzi, Hamsik, Gotze, Kagawa, Ganso, Kaka, Benzema, Adebayor, Bale, Tevez, Vertonghen, Subotic, Neymar, Fabregas, Nasri.

    flahavaj wrote: »

I was hoping Wenger would pull that one out of the bag for us.

Add Hazard and Sakho to that too actually.

    Aguero, Pastore, M'Vila too.

United to be linked with any keepr who can catch a ball in the next few weeks as well, and any young English midfielder you care to mention.

Spurs to be linked to every keeper under the sun as well as the usual ridiculous number of strikers

Not the most reliable source but TalkSport reporting that Utd have agreed a fee for De Gea.

Van Der Vaart, Bale and Modric to be heavily linked with moves away although I think Modric and Bale will stay for another season to try and win something at least.

Would be an extreme flop in the PL at this stage of his career IMO.

Too slow, and too old to adapt to the PL's pace. Would be a disaster.

I have a feeling he might want to stay in Spain a little longer.

i think we'll sign Stekelenberg myself.

Agreed, he has the experience of filling in VDS's gloves before with Holland.

Solid but not spectacular goalkeeper, will do the trick.

Who would you like to see in Utds midfield next season? De Rossi being linked again for a £14 million move.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,169 ✭✭✭JohnnyRyan99

From a City standpoint Zlatan Ibra, Cavani, Seedorf and Alexis Sanchez are the names being bandied about.

TBH i don't know what i want from City... A solid Left Back as Kolarov hasn't shown me anything to insist he's worthy of a starting place, a big name Centre Half as Lescott is about as solid as a new born baby and a Midfielder to replace Barry and Vieria who are both past it! Three players in for those positions would suit.

Needless to say though the likes of Sneijder, Kaka, Robben, Ribery and perhaps a Messi or two will light up the back pages every time things are getting dry in the transfer market!

Here's to a frustrating summer of City allegedly smashing the transfer record every 10 days!!:D

    Chelsea

We could have alot of movement and most of it with players leaving.

In : Alexis Sanchez, Kaka, Ashley Young, Pato, Neymar, Aguero, Lukaku.

Out : Anelka, Zhirkov, Bosingwa, Drogba, Matic ( confirmed as part of Luiz deal )

Zhirkov? Really? Thought he would be staying.

I think it boils down to either him or Maloud, dont see us getting rid of Malouda so that limits Zhirkovs chances on the left or even in a 3 man midfield.

With Van Aanholt and Bertrand coming through Zhirkov couldget the chop, great player though so would rather keep him.

Bosingwa seems to be the only one that is a near certainty at this early stage.

Indeed, but it's the kind of midfield they need to start utilising if they want to start competing with Barca more equally.

    It certainly looks promising.

It looks to me like a bit of a vain attempt to try and be more Barca than Barca themselves tbh.

They're a joke of a club really - they seem to have no clear vision whatsoever of what they want to be and how to actually get it. Meanwhile Barca just get on with their business and will most likely go on and do 4 or even 5 in a row while sniggering to themselves at the circus going on in the capital.

The downside of being a club owned by the fans.

Sahin for £8.8m is just incredible tbh.

I didn't think that the £10m they paid for Ozil would be beaten.

Does no-one else want these players or what? Both of them are worth £15m minimum notwithstanding Ozil was winding down his contract.

I really really hate how the Spanish top two conduct their business; Real buying players left right and centre chewing them up and spitting them out of they aren't instant successes [Sneijder/Van Der Vaart] and Barcelona and their fucking DNA shite. It's really reprehensible.

Yeah. They are at least partially insulated from the farce of presidential elections by their club culture, because everyone from the kit man to the prez is imbued with a sense of the system and the style the club plays, and the type of player that is required. At least that's my sense of it anyway. Real just throw money around based on the whims of whoever happens to be in charge, which changes often.

Özil only had a year left on his contract so it was either sell him now and get something or have him leave on a free.

Sahin had a contract until 2013 but there was a release clause for something like €6m but they agreed on €10m so he could move now.

Well there is a lot of talk about him going to Inter in a swap deal for Sneijder and there were stories about him wanting to go to Italy and he's clearly not 1st choice at Utd, so you would have to wonder is he happy with that.
