    Part of the article states:
Players can continue to wear shorts if they wish but simply wear a skirt over it,”

And no mention of low cut tops!!!!!

    So no issues for me

Why should they have to wear skirts over the shorts at all though?

Can't say I understand regulations like this at all, at all.

Is it not for more cultural/ religious purposes rather than sleaze?

Is the International Badminton Association a bunch of sleazebags? They have now decided that female players must wear skirts.

What would you say if your manager insisted on you wearing short skirts and low cut tops?

The article doesn't say anything about low cut tops or short skirts. It says skirts, and also says they give the option to wear shorts under the skirts.

As such i am wondering which you want discussed...the article and the merits of the ruling it discusses or your proffered hypothetical situation about managers requesting short skirts and low cut tops.

To be honest i would suggest you stick to posting your "storm in a tea cup" model posts in AH.

it's a bit silly alright but i wouldn't put it down to them being "sleazebags", many of these old men in suits who are slaves to the century old "gentlemanly" rules of their sport are more likely to be jobsworth bureaucrats than outright sexists.......in test cricket you must wear whites, wimbledon has similar

it's stupid, not sure if it's consciously more than that though

It's just about identification. Presenting a standard image of what badminton is. Uniforms would be a bit strong, but saying they must wear skirts allows them to look good in all the publicity and sports-journalist pictures.

Like others have said, Wimbledon has rules about wearing white, and other sports have similar rules for the entire sport or particular competitions.

Frankly, i think it's a little ridiculous. Why change it now? But let's be honest, it's not a lingerie league.

What I would be more worried about is that if they apply these arbitrary dress codes to the sport without any room for flexibility, if will stop women from countries whose culture stipulates certain types of dress from participating. In that context, the rule is just short-sighted and discrimatory.
