Your Favourite Board Game

When you were growing up what was your favourite board game to play?

For me I've always loved Chess and liked a game of Cluedo (would often say 'Just one more question' while looking crosseyed before delivering my verdict :pac:) when I was younger.

For some reason I never liked Monopoly!

So AH'ers what was/is your fav board game?

*In before 'Yore Ma', 'Blasting people with piss' and all those other unfunny retorts!

We never had actual board games in our house but I did like Trivial Pursuit on the Commodore 64 because it had the most retarded interface ever.

The computer would ask an onscreen question : eg "What president was shot while walking to California Governor Jerry Brown' office?"

Now bear in mind at this point there was no oncreen appearance of multiple choice answers to pick from or a prompt to type in your guess. At this point you were meant to "think" the answer.

So here I am . Me : Ronald Reagan!

Computer then prints to screen " the correct answer is "Gerald Ford." "

and here's where it gets good ...
Computer : Did you answer correctly (yes/no)?

Me : yes.

Computer : Congratulations!

( i guess they intended for multiple people to huddle around the computer and verify the honesty of each player , but if I wanted to that I'd have just gone to friends house and played the board version).

Yes it was a good game. It got a tad tiresome though after we forgot to take the murderer, murder weapon and murder room out of the pack before the game started for about the 10th time though!

Did anyone else have the game 13 Dead End Drive? Not a very common one I think, but we used to love it.

Also: Cluedo, Guess Who?, Dream Phone, Scrabble, Pictionary, Grape Escape, Operation... sometimes Mouse Trap.

Also liked the game Upwards - scrabble but you could put a letter on top of a letter to make another word.

Board Games were big in our house, myself and the brother got a new one every christmas and we would usually end up battering the living shíte out of each other alf way through

Played Go For Broke, Monopoly and the Game of Life a lot.
The coolest was probably Ghost Castle cos you got a glow in the dark skull

I played Monopoly for the first time in a decade not so long ago and it was such craic, the game went on for over 10 hours and we all got incredibly drunk, it was a scene resembling the Galway FF tent at times with the amount of deals being done on the side.
Bring back board games I say

I love board games

Loved Operation, Guess Who, Connect Four, Buckaroo, Snakes and Ladders, Draughts, Backgammon and loads more that I can't think of right now, was never a big fan of Monopoly though. Maybe because there was no real skill involved but it is a bit of craic in the right company.

We always played cards too - 25, poker, 21/or blackjack as it's now known!!, snap, blindmans buff etc...

Now, Scrabble is my favourite, but I also love Taboo, Yatzee and Cranium - have any of you played this btw - it's a great game

Which one? The music game on the PS2 is still my favourite of the lot, have a the Quiz TV and Quiz World on the PS3 and while they are good, they are still not a patch on that one, it's smashin'!
