Exercise Induced Asthma

Note if the Mods feel this is a medical advice question feel free to remove.

I have EIA and I find that after 10 mins or so of High Intensity Exercise it kicks in

I am currently using a ventolin inhaler and Seretide preventive inhaler and while they do make a difference I would still feel that asthma is holding me back from achieving my peak performance.

So I guess I am wondering does anyone have any training methods they used to help them through EIA and also has anyone used a Power-breathe and found it to be useful for improving performance.

I don't know what sort of exercise you're doing but as an asthmatic, I find interval training works best for me. I couldn't run at all to begin with (all for asthma reasons) and I started with running for 1-2 mins and walking til I got my breath back and I've built up to about 5 mins running and walking for about 2 mins then running again now. Yoga has helped to change my breathing to be mostly nasal based and that has made a big difference.

I hope this doesn't get locked, as I actually have some questions about this.

How did you get diagnosed with this? I have a feeling that may have EID, but the attacks are rare enough for me that I haven't bothered to go through the process of getting diagnosed, which I've read can be quite difficult. As I understand it they basically have to catch you mid attack to make a diagnosis. Is this right?

Has anyone used the Buteyko Method?

It's used to treat asthma but can also be used to improve athletic performance.

A friend of mine treats clients with it and has often offered to train me in it so I can use it for myself.
