(Moderator: Sorry posted this in wrong sub-forum, should probably be put in main forum as it's more about exercise than diet. My apologies.)

Ok so a little information about myself. I'm 22, 5"9, 65 Kilo's(Ish) and have a huge pe... I kid I kid . I smoke (boo) and haven't exercised regularly in about 2 years or so. My diet is crap in that I don't eat enough food, I skip meals alot due to work or laziness. My weighing scales currently says i have a 47% Muscle mass, 61% Water and 11% Body fat. Aslo my needed calorie intake is 1800Kcal to maintain weight which I know is too low especially for a guy.

Now my question is if I was to sort out my Diet which i really need to do and should be my Number 1 priority would a body weight exercise regime be a good idea. My plan is to put on as much healthy weight (mostly muscle) as possible but rather than jump back into doing compound exercises which in my opinion I need to be doing in a gym as the equipment plus space to do at home Is not available. The exercises I'm referring to are things such as Core exercises, sit ups, push ups, tricep dips (using a chair). The reason I would be doing this would to set like a foundation layer of fitness before i buy another gym membership and get back into doing compound work. But I'm wondering whether that's a good idea or not to do it, as in would i notice much improvement in my overall muscle stamina (and maybe a bit of size) doing this?

I do know a decent amount of stuff about weight lifting but am by no means an expert and really don't have much experience as to the benefits doing body weight stuff. In my head I'm thinking I'd like to be able to control my own weight e.g like how break dancers can, before i move on to controlling heavier weights in the gym.

(Sorry for long post just figured as much info would help)

Thx for any and all input.

    .

You would. Press ups, supine rows, chins, burpees and body weight squats. All fine. Or you could start up something like starting strength (again?) You're gonna be doing lots of stomach/core exercises any how when you start back on the squats & deadlifts.

Dont bother going of the scales with all them figures . Get someone who is experienced at skin folds and get your bodyfat %

Nothing wrong with BW exercises . IMO to many people go straight into weights and overlook how effective mastering your own body can be .
As soon as you feel like you have you Bw exercises under control get into the gym and start smashing the Compound exercises

start with your first meal and move on from there - not too hard.

Training wise - do one session, push yourself a little, do another push a little more and move forwards - not too hard really. Its more about consistency really

    very true.

I find it helps to keep a log, there's loads of apps out there for tracking your progress or even just a notepad and pen
