Obviously. Many of us are on record here as saying as much long before the election: the same civil service is still running this state.

politicians are all the same and they all promise the world to get into government and then revert to type when in there ( a few break ranks and actually do good - but only a few.)

I find it hillarious that people now seem shocked about what FG are doing now that they are in power. We had enough of the right wing capitalist party so we kicked them out and got a general election. What do we do? We vote in the even more right wing capitalist party and then acked shocked when to do they same things are FF.

    Take a bow Ireland.

I think if you listen to Michael Martin you'll find that Fianna Fail are the new Fianna Fail

    ...apparently!

FG are just a poor man's FF. same basic ideas, but not really up to the job. Can't see them holding on to power. People are going to realise that the election manifesto has been thrown to the wind.

tbh.... I haven't thought about politics since the election, I've just been getting on with things, are these new lads any use?

The IMF and EU run this country.

Sadly too many Irish people were too thick to vote for politicans who would've told them that Irish taxpayer will not foot the bill for failed private institutions.

    Gobshites.

Huh. Well, no I don't think Fine Gael are the new Fianna Fail. They've disappointed on the issue of the banks, but they at least made movements in the right direction re: bondholders within the very tight constraints in which they find themselves. The public sector hasn't been touched yet. But it's been -what - two months? It's not like they could click their fingers and solve the many massive problems in the country overnight. I certainly don't think they're the new FF, since that level of gobshitery takes a degree of practice FG just haven't put in. Christ, is no-one realistic about what this new government could reasonably achieve? I'm not here waving the FG flag fangirling about them but why are people so quick to write them off? Surely FG/Lab haven't proven themselves as underhanded and out-and-out liars as FF.

The sad thing is that FF committed economic treason and still got 20 seats in the Dáil.

Chuck Norris/Odin/Thor/the Spaghetti Monster can't fix the mess FF have landed the country in.

In a few months or a year, people will get angry at FG for not fixing FF's mess . . . . . . . and then vote FF in again.

    It's a FF strategy almost.

They all do it, do people think any party will live up to its manifesto, especially in coalitions?

Sure SF are the same in the North.

Honestly, can you blame them? Politics is merely a vessal to channel sociopathic qualities for personal gain. The politicians don't care. Boo hoo. Always has been the way, always will be.
