If I remember correctly, first year has about 20 hours in it. I dunno if a part-time job is that possible with full-time college. It's tricky. Try for evening work/weekend work in a bar or something because it'll be impossible to fit classes around work otherwise. :)

Thanks so much. I'm going to try my best anyway as I don't have much choice. :D Evening or weekend work would be ideal, I'm looking to work 10-15 hours a week if anywhere will take me. :p Although I'm constantly applying for jobs everywhere and never seem to have any luck. But I'm just going to have to put in an extra push this time. Both my brother and I are going to college at the same year and my Dad's taking out a loan for the fees already so as you can see the money isn't really there. And I don't want to be relying on them anyway. They make too much money (marginally) for either myself or my brother to be entitled to a grant. Which is very unfair but I have to get on with it I guess. When are you starting 2nd year? Was 1st year any good? I'm really excited about starting. :) I did a PLC course in TV and Film Production to get into Carlow so I really appreciate the place. :)

Hi , hoping someone is still out there on this thread to answer my question!
Bassically I have started the Bsc in Tv and Media production this year in Carlow IT and I would like to know what time we finish up for the summer holidays. I need to know becuase I have a job in the UK for the summer and my potential employer wants to know when I can start. If its too late in the summer I wont get the job.
Ideally I would need to get to the UK in early May to get the job.
Perhaps some of the contributers that started the course last year or before could tell me the date they finished when they finished year one?
I would much appreciate your help  Eric.

Are you in my year? :P I don't think there's an Eric in my class? It's Aisling in first year TV and Media! :P Methinks exams are in early May so most people finish between early and mid May.

Why don't you ask at your school office? They'll be able to give you the date. The exam timetable will be published soon as well.

Good suggestion. vikingeric, ask in there first, they should be able to give you at least a provisional date for the start and end of exams. Also try finding out when the exams started and finished in previous years, to give you some indication of when they will happen this year.

It'll be mostly theory in first year I believe, but be prepared for exams from the start of May, until the last week is what I've been told before (this applies to most courses though).
