Your Alternative PFA Team of the Year

Given that the this year's team is completely made up of players belonging to the top 5 (although Chelsea didn't have a representative) who would you choose for your team of the year if players within the top 5 sides weren't choose-able?

    I'll get things started

    GK: Ben Foster
RB: Sheamus Coleman (Position debatable. Probably flourished more as a rm, decided to fit him in at rb)
    LB: Leighton Baines
    CB: Brede Hangeland
    CB: Roger Johnson
    RM: Matt Jarvis
LM: Raul Meireles (Tough one with Kuyt)
CM: Clint Dempsey (Tough one with him and Kevin Nolan)
    CM: Charlie Adam
    FW: Peter Odemwingie
    FW: Darren Bent

Who would be in your side?

    GK:

    LB:

I applaud your individuality, but a few things.

    1. Seamus Coleman has almost never played right back, when he did, he wasn't very good.
    2. Meireles on left midfield? Hmm, I would personally have him in the middle.
    3. Hangeland has been good in previous seasons, but I have not been impressed with him thus far. Aaron Hughes won't be getting any plaudits at this stage in his career, but he has done as well as Hangeland has with an awful lot less hype.

Probably the fact that he's very overrated and doesn't score outside the 6 yard box..

Only Wayne Rooney has scored more goals in the prem since 2005 and that includes his couple of seasons on the bench for Spurs. Your criticism is exactly why he's a top player he's always in the right place at the right time. BTW if you think you criticism is fair then I would ask you is Ruud Van Nistlerooy overrated and is Gary Lineker overrated?

6 yards, 6 foot, 6 inches, 6 blades of grass,

Maybe Torres has failed to score for Chelsea so far because he doesn't want one from inside the 6 yard box?

so what if he doesn't score outside the 6 yard box? Do goals from outside the 6 yard box count double or something?

He's a guarenteed goal scorer. And unless you don't know what football is, the aim is to score more goals than the other team.

If i'm not mistaken, Ruud v.Nistelrooy only ever scored 1 goal from outside of the box during his Man Utd career. He must've been brutal too!

Ye're all spot on there with saying he does a good job, and gets goals but he's nowhere near a top player this season which is my point, on top of him being overrated.
I've watched him quite a bit this season and there's far far better than him even outside the Top 4.

And since his move to Villa his average is MORE than a goal every other game.

    Why?

I don't think Reina has been the best keeper. I believe that he has regressed this season. Bit more dodgier from corners, shown again on Sunday. Foster has had a very strong season and wouldn't begrudge anyone picking him over Reina.

Whereas anyone picking anyone other than Foster amazes me.

Reina, the better overall keeper, but basing this on performances this season, Foster surely wins the GK spot.

    I agree with him!

For my kind of a perfect striker, his job is to do alot more than score. They're a link between midfield and forwards, they hold up play, they bring overlapping midfielders or full backs into the game, they provide an out ball for defenders....they chase evrything down - work their asses off.....and most of all, they get some kind of potent partnership / understanding going with the striker partner that he can benefit from also in terms of his goal return. He's got a strong physical presence and is pacy. And, he's a finisher with a good positional sense.

Bent does NONE of these but the last one!
