    8/10;)

Think Man United will come back strong from the defeat yesterday.

Be close call but fancy few goals in this 2-1 maybe 3-1 Man United. If Newcastle score first could be very long night for us.

Newcastle lacking firepower but we need to score first.Fergie will demand a response from the team and after the Arsenal result today we have a great chance to take another big step towards number 19.
I reckon 2 upfront with Berbatov(chance to redeem himself) and Chico starting and Anderson to start in midfield.Rooney back from 2 match ban will be a big boost.

Be amazed if Rooney does not start. Berba will be on bench after yesterday imo.

I want to see Rooney and chico start this one. Too close to 19 now to be messing about.

so Berba, Rooney and Chico will start - interesting thought.

Doubt that,I reckon Berbatov will be given a chance to put yesterdays misery behind him with Rooney waiting on the bench. It's nearly impossible these days to second guess Fergie's team selections apart from a couple of players.
I'd like to see Evra given a break-he looks mentally shattered. We need him fresh for games against Arsenal,Chelsea+Schalke.

true, no point in second guessing him, Newcastle will not be found wanting for effort and with utd's away form, it's going to be a tough game.

Cant see Man Utd slipping up twice in quick succession but I hope the toon put in a good performance.

    Bring it the fúck on.

EDIT: We've one of the highest, if not THE highest goals record this season so here's hoping we can add to it.

Won't be easy. We've only really got Lovenkrands and Ameobi fit. I'm sure Ferdinand and Vidic are sh*tting themselves at the thoughts of them. :pac:

Nolan is suspended which is a huge blow but Stephen Ireland (:pac:) and Tiote (:D) will start.

Nani V Enrique could be a tasty affair.

3-1 to Man United though I think. They'll be a different animal having been beaten on Saturday.

Optimism for the win...Lovelypants and Tiote.. 2-0 :)

Man United simply HAVE to win this.

Not sure how we will line up, but I reckon it will be as full strength as possible.

Rooney and Chico up top, Nani and Valencia on the wings. Will be interesting to see who plays in the middle though. Carrick and Giggs would be the form pairing, but I can see Anderson getting a start - not sure in place of who though.

Really think Newcastle can boss midfield with Tiote back, he's class and it is were Man U are at their weakest. Newcastle had no game at the weekend and Utd seemed tired when chasing the game on Saturday (i know they wer a man down)

Remember David Edgar strike back a few years ago to draw 2-2... fantastic

I think it'll defo be Rooney and Chico, with Carrick/Giggs/Anderson being the middle two. I expect us to bounce back and beat Newcastle with ease.

Unfortunately I can see that happening too. :(

It surely has to be Rooney who gets the nod. He's in terrific form as of late. Even if he's not scoring goals, he's always in the right areas and has a helping hand to goals.

    I hate him. :(

That is actually the biggest aspect of his game in the last few weeks.

Even looking at the west ham game. He was actually quite poor in the first half, but he was always trying - which is something I feel had been missing from his game. He was the driving force United needed in that game, especially in terms of second half play. While not everything came off for him, he was the one that was trying to get United moving forward and trying to force the game. Saw it vs Chelsea away too, and in other games of late.

He looks more like the Rooney we had in 07/08 really. Even at that time I said Ronaldo got the goals, Rooney was the player that made us play well - when Rooney was on fire, United were at their best. It feels like that a bit again now. He is the catalyst for our side again, and it could be massive for the run in. Hopefully starting tomorrow night - and I reckon he is going to be well up for it having had to sit out the City game.

Yep, and he has a good record against us. :(

Can't see United not winning, they should be well up for it after the weekend.

I'll say 1-3, with at least one controversial peno for the craic :)

I'm not putting NUFC down, I'm trying out this whole reverse psychology prediction thing that all the cool kids are doing.

    I always do it.

King Shola WON'T dominate Vidic at all.

He's penned in to face Liverpool. Can't wait to see the lad back. Had a terrific debut against Everton. Will be like a whole new signing for us.

    The team id like

    VDS

    Rafael--Ferdinand-Vidic---Evra

    Valencia-Carrick-Anderson-Nani

    Rooney--Hernandez

Carrick's assist on Saturday was class alright. I dunno how Giggs is so good. Giggs, Rooney dropping into midfield and the defence make United tick but you need 2 new signings in centre midfield.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Steve Harper a doubt for tomorrow. Tim Krul is more than likely to start. Good keeper and has a lot of potential but he's a bit suspect from corners though.

Think they prefer to go more to the right which will leave a lot of space on the left for us.

A-HA! An area United can look to exploit.... no, wait, sorry.... we don't threaten from corners or set pieces in general, ever. :(

We have a sweet record at St. James park and have generally cone away with the three points fairly comfortably. Looking forward to this game, perfect match for us to respond to Saturday's disappointment imo. The Arsenal collapse yesterday should give us that extra spring in our step too.

Things rarely turn out like you expect them to so I have a feeling this will be a tight, close affair.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭TheBunk1

I think Rooney will definitely be starting, hopefully with Chico. Would like to see Anderson start too to get some game time, looked lively on Sat and made some good bursts forward with the ball from midfield (he's the only one that can really).

We have to win this. Don't want to be facing a tricky game against Everton (albeit at home) on Saturday not having won this. Everton are usually good for giving us a scare.

    pig

    raf
    smalling
    vidic
    evra

    valencia
    carrick
    anderson
    nani

    rooney
    hernandez

    I think...

I'd play O'Shea in place of Evra tbh, Evra is a liability atm

Carrick and Anderson looked really good together earlier this year, Carrick just needs to keep his head together after that mistake, not go into his shell for another two years.

I'd like to see Fabio involved at some point too, he looked lively when he came on at the weekend.

    3-1 united

I think we're well able to shake United up and get at least a point on Tuesday.
We're a solid side, with some excellent individuals players that can cause trouble for United.

As mentioned though, we do lack a sturdy striker.
Best is out for the season and he was actually scoring whilst Lovenkrands and Ranger are strugllign to snatch a goal all the time.

Ranger will cause huge problems for United if he's on his game, and if he comes on as sub. Could see him scoring actually but then again I'm forever the optimist.
Tioté in midfield will have Ferguson eyeing him up no doubt, could have Carrick in his pocket if Cheik is on his game.

Of course that's before I mention United's quality..

Prediction : Newcastle United 1-1 Manchester United or 2-1 Toon.

Nearly 7/1 for 1-1, not bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭bazual

Will probably be the same old story, Newcastle to outplay utd at the start and take a one nil lead then when it all looks doomed for Man U a wondergoal out of Rooney which sparks the revival for a 1-5 defeat.

One good thing is that Scholes will not be playing cos if its not Rooney then its always Scholes, he has some record against us.

A comfortable win for Manchester United.

    0-3.

Looks like Harper won't be fit for the game. There's talk of Berbatov being left out for Utd after what happened Saturday.

Think Fergie will play an attacking team, did so against Chelsea when people expected he may go with one up front. Think it will be a comfortable 3-0 win, Newcastle having nothing up front, team i predict :

    VDS

Raf (if fit) - Smalling - Vidic - Evra

    Valencia - Anderson - Carrick - Nani

    Rooney -Hernandez

Capital letters are usually used at the beginning of sentences. Also, there's usually a space after a comma.

Stephen Ireland finally making his debut for Newcastle.

It will be difficult for him to readjust to the pace of 1st team football, I expect him to play for about the hour.

Big game for United. A win could really drive them towards the title.

Not so sure why people have Smalling in their line up. If Rio is fit then there's no way he'll be rested.

Getting excited about the match, too bad Spurs/Arse is on at the same time.
