I was actually going to start a thread on this deadwood. Good minds think alike.:)

What do our resident Gardai here think of them? For example driving down a motorway the wrong way only gets you one point and a fine. A HGV driver using the overtaking lane gets the same fine and points.

I think the fine for using a mobile phone is way to low. It should be increased to over 200 euro. Spend that money on extra garda resources.

The fine for driving up the motorway the wrong way should be increased to 1000 euros plus.

What do our AGS members think of this?

If the money from increased fines went directly into promoting road safety as well as improvement in infrastructure and policing then I'd be all up for it.

The problem would be that (inevitably) the increased fine will only go in one direction - towards the blackhole that is Anglo Irish.

if i got someone driving the wrong way up a dual carraigeway or motorway, they would be getting a summons for dangerous driving. never mind your penalty points crap!!
