    Hiya

This is going to seem like a very stupid question so pls bear with me and nobody jump at my throat. Thing is, I eat lots of veg but not so much fruit because of the old sugar blood thing etc, basically most days I eat just an apple (i know there is a lot of sugar in some types of apples but there is so many nutrients in it I feel it is worth the trade). Anyways recently I have decided to include another piece or two of fruit per day and I have gone back to doing my old smoothies (whole fruit) in which I mix the fruit with about half a pound of baby spinach (organic and whole) and sometimes a little bit of coconut milk (yummiiiiieeee). My question is, am I doing more harm than good by eating the fruit in smoothie form by virtue of the fructose hitting the liver sooner and all that?

Thanks in advance for your time and your responses.

Long time no see here :)

First off - if it is the equivilant of an apple a day, I wouldn't fret.

Now, to answer your question - if you were to say, just juice the fruit and drink it, it will absorb straight away but since you are juicing it with coconut milk (full fat i presume ;)), the presence of fat will slow down the release and absorption of fruit sugar

Bear in mind that you will still lose some of the fiber but id say if it's something you enjoy having, go for it :)

    Heya

Yes I know I have very little time to be in the internet these days... my kids are 2 and 4, you get the gist!

It's not so much that I enjoy having it, it's because I thought I'd eat one more piece of fruit a day for the mixture of vits and nutrients they provide and I thought mixing it with spinach and coconut milk would lower its glycemic weight and secondly I do not know of any other palatable way of eating spinach (I really do not enjoy the stuff so much but green veg are so good for you).

Any opinions welcome, am I making too much of the goodness in one extra piece of fruit a day and the spinach? I eat tons of veg
