Went running for first time in about 5 years yesterday and leg muscles absolutely torn to shreds, any way of healing quickly?

Should I stretch the muscles to the point of pain or is that worse?
All this lactic acid is killing me so please tell me something useful!!! Thanks

You do know that Lactic acid doesnt cause cramp, and is metabolismed by the liver extremly fast. So first thing, lactic acid isnt doing anything to cause you discomfort. Its DOMS most likely.

Dont stretch cold a cold muscle, go on a walk, then stretch, holding for upwards of 30seconds.

Healing quickly? Depends on how good your diet is.
