Marco Polo surprises me. Everyone I have spoken to has said it's pretty crap.

I watched it and thought it was great, the first episode was a bit meh but as the season progressed it got better and better, and anyone I talked to about it (about 5 people) though it was great

Not as far as I'm aware. They make money from advertising.

Trailer for Syfy series The Expanse

Syfy’s The Expanse could continue for 9 seasons, exec producer Naren Shankar has hinted.

Shankar dispelled any pretence that The Expanse is a ‘one and done’ series and believes there’s enough material for the show to “continue for many seasons,” given that there are currently 4 books out with plans for 9.

    Why

They are far too quick to cancel things (especially on a cliff hanger)

I can get one year but 3. I know cliffhangers are a pain but they could happen in any series all depends on how long the creators know of the cancellation. I don't think they are any worse for cancelling than anyone else

....maybe if you watched them they wouldn't end up being cancelled, it's all about the ratings :pac:

Firefly got a 5/5 from me and many others. Critics loved it. Was still cancelled. :pac:

Yeah, when I said ratings I was speaking in terms of viewership, of which FF unfortunately had little.

I am a fan of FF btw, it was a well crafted world with bundles of potential and an excellent cast chemistry. That bit towards the end of Serenity was a really sad moment (speaking of cast), with the fans it has I still expect and expanded world series to be made sometime down the line.

Yeah, it was described as a "break out hit" after the second episode aired. Its describes as a serialised soap. Haven't seen it yet.
Empire became the only drama series — new or returning — to score a demo rating with a 4 in front of it the last two seasons except for the heavily promoted series premiere of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.

The Nielson box records whatever you watch during your reporting period. It's a super flawed system tbh, but it does record SyFy ratings.

Netflix has given an eight-episode, direct-to-series order to Flaked

Soon the tangled web of half-truths and semi-bullsh*t that underpins his all-important image and sobriety begins to unravel.

An update on Apocalypse Slough, some juicy casting ...
The ten-part drama will be led by US stars Rob Lowe (The West Wing, Brothers and Sisters) and Megan Mullally (Will and Grace), with Jenna Fischer (the US Office) also on board, although it's not yet clear whether Slough's famous paper headquarters Wernham Hogg – setting of the original Office series – will make an appearance...

Joining their ranks are British actors Mathew Baynton (The Wrong Mans, Yonderland), Paterson Joseph (Babylon), Pauline Quirke (Birds of a Feather) and Joel Fry (Plebs).

Wait. That's a drama? From the description and the cast, that sounds 100% like a comedy.
