Sorry im not looking to work in a shop bud, im lookin in the likes of the four seasons, merriot, fitzwilliams etc etc, not some run down front for a scumbag drug cartel k thanks bye :)

So your being picky about where you work? That's why jobs are hard to come by... I'd imagine being the arrogant ***** you are doesn't help you if you get an interview either. I'm not "some run down front for a scumbag drug cartel." Some of us aren't lucky enough to have the choice to work in 5 star hotels (and neither are you by the sounds of it)and I'd take anything I could get when I was looking, but what I do actually requires some skill, unlike carrying trays around to some rich **** who won't tip you because you didn't bring his caviar fast enough

Maybe knock off the "bud" lingo then...

Bahahah, you are a funny guy, I'm sure any part of shop operations requires skill and bostonb, I am well aware of the other meanings of the word bud.

Truth be told, i don't need to work, I want to work, I have enough cash saved from previous jobs to support me through college when i go back, I just hate sitting on my a** doing nothing.

This is actually where I will end this conversation due to the fact that i couldn't be arsed continuing it :) k thanks bye

The essential point is if you have experience, you'll be more attractive than someone without, and sometime, they'll just pick the girl. Thats life. If you don't a salary, then you can pick jobs that don't pay well but are interesting. Play to your strengths.

The whole world doesn't revolve around you you know. OP was being advised that it would be worth his while getting a job in Dublin while in college, and you came along saying how difficult it is. pointed out it's not, then you had a dig at what I do to make ends meet? Also, can I point out that you're not the student here, I am. I'm the one who has to work for enough money to get by on day to day as well as any other expenses, unlike you, who can turn down job offers because they're not good enough for you? And your comment about shop operations; You don't even know what I do.

Actually No one really advised OP about jobs, you just came and attacked me, and actually I am a student. If you read through the last posts, half of what you say is hypocritical.

I know i know, i said i wouldn't get back into this silly argument, but what can i say, I love a good argument.

Your only choice then is to get a job and pay for it yourself.

Tbh, I don't want to miss out on anything so the job plan sounds like the best plan. 300-350 euro a month....yeesh, at least with a job I'd be able to pay it and as someone said with the help of my parents. It's also 50 euro a week on the bus and 30 euro a day on the train (if you get an adult's ticket).

Get a part time job. I'm second year engineering and can fit in a part time job, so you can too.

Yeah, working sounds like a plan, I can't even get a job here though, anyone know what's it's like to job hunt in Dublin?

No, jobs weren't mentioned at all. From what I remember of your posts, you're coming to trinity to do MSISS, and intending on sitting schols in first year. You said you've done the college thing before? Add that onto your remark about going back to college and you having enough to get by on.

Anyway, I don't mind continuing this argument, but It's not helping the OP.

Thats just telling her to get a job, not really advice, Yeah they were my posts, However I don't come on here to be attacked by you or anyone else for that matter. And half of this post Wasn't really helpful to the OP.

I Don't belittle anyone working, I just don't appreciate being told I suck.

*All right guys can ye take the arguing to PM. Here though can you keep it to a reasonable discussion at least somewhat related to the original topic.*

Your poor parents being riddled with guilt because youre "missing out"...
Do you know what the reg fee is alone?

Ive commuted for 3 years from the middle of Kildare and yes its irritating but totally acceptable.

You will only be "missing out" for realistically the first month or so of college when every first year goes mad and then after that are
    A) Stuck with the bills, or rather your parents are
    B) Housed with other immature first years whose only ambitions are to make freshers week into a year long party

Seriously after the first month at college you will have made many friends with many couches and going out will not be a problem. If youre a member of clubs a lot of the socialising come in the form of trips where you wont be in Dublin anyway.
Commuting is not that bad and besides you can put that saved money towards a car which will sort you out in the long run.

    Leave your parents alone

Sweet, I knew a thread about accommodation couldn't have reached 5 pages without the impetus of some imbeciles head-butting each other.

    Thanks for the entertainment!

Oh Jesus, quit bitching. TL;DR, but I get the gist of your incessant whining, I never once guilted my parents, if commuting is what I have to do and it's my only option that's what I'll do however first of all I want to see what sort of options I have instead of giving in like a little bitch.

I think you'll get a better experience of college life if you can possibly live in Dublin. This is from a social/independence/societies & sports point of view. The academics I think not so much an issue, might be as good or better commuting and not having to work part time.

Part time work is good (in moderation it can even help with structuring your week) but you have to be careful to remember what you are there for and not overdo it to the extent that it interferes with your studies. Insofar as that is a risk a full time summer job would be better than doing too much paid work term time IMO.

On second thought, you best move out. Anymore than 18 years living with you and I'd pay anything to get you out of the house.

You're parents should be shoving your pretentious little ass out the door

I'm sorry, pretentious? Do you even know what it means? Because there is nothing you could possibly draw that conclusion from, seriously.

Well, good news. I figured it out myself, my parents said if they'd pay 50 euro a week for me to get a bus they'd pay 50 euro a week for shared accommodation which I've already organised. It's sorted. I got what I wanted and nobody was harmed by my apparent pretentiousness xD.

Plus, I still want to get a part-time job so my parents won't even have to pay that, it's great that they are but it would be even better, obviously, if I could pay for it. Things are looking well ;).
