Blackpool’s Charlie Adam, Arsenal’s Samir Nasri, Manchester United’s Nemanja Vidic, Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez and Tottenham Hotspur duo Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart.

This thread only works if you all ignore Scott Parkers outstanding season. Or a mod puts it out of it misery.

None of them are really stand out performers to be honest. Bale will win it, but he really shouldn't unless you are basing it on something other than football.

I was trying to do a poll based on the actual nominations. I forgot parker. Nani didn't get nominated.

Then it's Tevez who should win it.

    Torres:p

na but it could easily be a longer list, i chose charlie adam because he was unheard of until this season...same reason why i coulda chose andy carrol

Nani has been the best player in the EPL this season without a doubt but alas he isn't a very likeable chap and that's why he won't win it. :p

These are the official nominations. The last poll was speculative.

Not his fault Nani wasn't nominated.
Vidic wins it in my opinion.

Not playing in the EPL and being unheard of aren't the same thing!

Carroll was making big waves last season. How would he go for £35m on 6 months of form?

18 good months is much more sensible :P

Why is VdV on the list?

Shocking that Vidic gets on that ahead of Chicarito, Nani or Berbatov, and what Charlie Adam is doing there I have no idea

Unfortunately not. From those on the list I'd go for Charlie Adam.

It really is no shock at all that Vida is on there, so many games this season he has been a man mountain

He's the best player at blackpool, but this is player of the year, not the "best of a bad bunch" award.

I also think he's slightly overrated, but in all honesty 9 goals and 7 assists in a side just promoted on top of being the player that means they still have a fighting chance of staying in the division when no-one gave them a cat in hells chance is impressive.

Just because he doesn't play for one of the top 4 doesn't mean he's a bad player and in truth the whole award was devalued and made a mockery of when it was given to Ryan Giggs as some sort of ''lifetime achievement award'', so it's nothing to get worked up about.

Tevez for me just ahead of Vidic. Its really a toss of a coin between them imo. Both teams suffer when they don't play but I think City suffer more without Tevez than United do without Vidic.

That says more about the respective squads rather than the players mentioned.

From that list (I think Nani was the definite best player), I think it has to be Vidic.

2nd best player, of the best team in the league.

Charlie Adam for me. A steal at £500,000 and wears his heart on his sleeve when he's playing. Fantastic player who really rallies his team when they need it.

Season isnt over yet, whoever wins the league is the best team in the league. Unless you think the Man Utd have won the league already?

From the list above I voted for Carlos Tevez as PFA player of the year.

Their current position shows they're clearly the best team in the league at the moment.

    Why?

Because two good Champions League appearances do not a season make. The award is voted for in February so if we take it to the end of that month even, Giggs had two goals and five assists from from 17 appearances. He completed 90 minutes just eight times between August and the start of March.

He also missed seven games between the end of October and mid December (when he featured for six minutes against Arsenal). There is no way he should be mentioned in the same breathe as those chosen, and even some of those missing from the list.

I'm all for a bit of sentiment and rewarding legends but that card has been used already.

Reports suggest Gareth Bale has won PFA Player of the Year award. That makes such a mockery of the whole process.

The award has been a joke since Giggs won it tbh, and this just continues that trend
