Detox Programmes

    Hello,

I was recently attending a seminar about detox programmes and would like to know what your opinion is about them?

The idea behind detoxification is that the human body is bombarded by harmful substances referred to as toxins. These toxins make their way into our bodies through the air, food and the environment. The body filters out these toxins through natural processes that take place in the internal organs such as the liver and kidneys and through sweating. A detoxification diet aims to help the body rid itself of toxins.

    Some details here: http://www.ehow.com/about_5289258_elemis-detox.html

I am actually not really interested in losing weight (on the contrary I don't want to!), maybe just 2kg on the stomach but no more, but I can maybe eat a bit more to avoid losing weight and mass during the detox period, I was more interested about the other health-benefits provided. What do you think? Did any of you have any experience with it?

    Thank you :)

The whole Detox thing is a bit of a myth I'm afraid.

Your liver and kidneys do a brilliant job of detoxing. Stop throwing crap at them, and that's all you need to do.
