Whats the norm with Lidl and TV's ... 1 or 2 per store or do they stock plenty?
Decent price for a 32 inch but hate the thoughts of having to queue up to try and grab one :D

Thats pretty much how it goes, Q up and hope for the best. Shop dude usually tells you how many there is, so your wait shouldnt be too long altho usually in vain.

Yeah I think that's about the size of it, if you really want one get there early on the first morning they go on sale, and remember Lidl only take cash or Laser, no credit cards.

Actually, does anyone know by the technical details if this will play nice with a 5.1 home theatre kit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,533 ✭✭✭Zonda999

Well, it doesn't list it as having digital optical so you'd be stuck with standard RCA audio output. Not too big a deal really since no tvs really output 5.1 through their optical port. A separate HC system wouldnt be a bad call at all though, apparently this yoke has only 2 x 6W speakers which is a bit weak tbh. Great bargain other that that though, has to be said. Full HD and all, great deal no doubt

Ah good, i only have a cheapish one from tesco :P

The couch is too close to the tv to bother with an expensive one. So hopefully they will play nice together.

I spotted this TV too on the Lidl website on Monday and was pretty sure it was advertised at €299.99. Now I could be wrong, maybe it was €249.99 but the website now has a new updated look since Monday. Makes me suspicious if they've made a mistake with the €249.99 price on the new website, especially when its £249.99 in the UK.

Is this TV on the fliers yet? Would be nice to confirm that price.

I think on the flyers it is 299.99 i seen it a tv advertied in aldi or lidl today not sure wich one it was as i was in both and it was 299.99

It would still be a very decent deal if its 299€ but it would be be very bad form on their part if they up the price y 50€ now

They haven't up the price as such. They had it at €299.99 originally but it looks like they've make a mistake with the current advertised price.

I can see this panning out as a €299 down here and a £249 up there. Hope I'm wrong though:o

I've just changed the price on the thread title. I'm not sure either but looks like the web site price may have been wrong. Sorry for any disappointment, it was posted in good faith.

Anyway I hope those who want one get one, and are happy with it. Good luck. :)

Me too. I have taken a few snaps of the website on my phone and in case i get there and its 299 instead of 249 i will chance my arm at challenging it, you never know.

Apart from anything else - this should put the pressure on all the other retailers to get real on proper Saorview enabled sets at a decent price. If it really is €249.99 that should set the cat amongst the pigeons!

Can't see from the specs. Is this any good as a gaming tv?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,626 ✭✭✭✭vectra

Went to local LIDL store this morning
    Advertising poster was out
    TV priced @ €299.99 :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,533 ✭✭✭Zonda999

No reason it shouldn't be any good tbh, as a gaming tv. Surely hardly no input lag in this, cant imagine there being too much picture processing! 4 hdmi ports too. Gamer friendly i would have said anyway!

I don't think it really matters what's on the website right now. The store posters have it down for €299.99 and if I recall correctly it was €299.99 on the website on Monday. Lidl obviously made a mistake when they gave their website a new look over the last few days. That, coupled with the fact it's £249.99 in UK / NI points to a genuine mistake on the current website.

looks like the same TV that they had onsale 2 months ago, at 299:
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=70324854

bought one at the time myself, and think it's great.

only slight issues i have had with it is that the media player on it doesn't play WMV files. it plays most mkv, mp4, avi files fine though.
also, i have a few HD videos with DTS audo that it won't play. it'll play ones with AC3 fine though.
i've only played them with the TV connected to an external harddrive/usb key though, so connecting up a blu-ray player, or laptop etc. to the tv wouldn't have those issues.

    ,Response time: 8ms

Response times have little to do with input lag tbh. Practically all lcd panels quote a "response time" of 8ms and if 8ms was the lag, that all displays had, there would be no need for the term "input lag" to be practical about it. Above 40ms is when input lag really starts to become a problem

I was always led to believe anything with more than 5ms response time was not good enough for gaming.
    Ah well
We learn something new every day ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,533 ✭✭✭Zonda999

Yeah, its gone all fcuked up lately with regards to input lag. At this stage, its practically al to do with picture processing and quite logically, the lower spec the tv, the less picture processing and therefore less lag. Now this sint always the case, it depends on the manufacturer really. I imagine a tv like this though, has practically no picture processing so therefore should be grand for gaming

As an aside, the "response time" only really tells you theoretically how long it take for an individual pixel to go from grey to white to grey again, it has no real bearing on input lag in reality and at this stage, hardly no manufacturers would list the response time on a spec-sheet. Sure some philips tvs at this stage are quoting response times of 0.5ms, which quite frankly, is bulls**t!

Yes it is, I got one when they came out then. Very good tv for the price. It tends to play some movies and not others off the hard drive for some odd reason. I got around this by getting a hdmi dmi cable and directly connecting it to the pc as a second monitor.

I was at the store when it opened, they had about 4 in stock and there was no que.

I'm going to assume that it's worth the extra €50...... The tv I have ATM is a Mirai one I bought in xtra-vision a couple of years back, only HDR, so this is bound to be a step up.

Good TV..Got 1 the last time Lidl had this deal. Very limited stock though so anyone thinkin about 1 should be queueing early

Picked up one of these in Thurles this morning. Didn't bother queueing - just went in @ 09.00.

    Still 4 or 5 left at 09.10.

Picked up one from the Lidl in Walkinstown this morning. You have to ask for it as they don't have it on display.

Too far from the TV don't you mean? The closer you are to your screen the more you benefit when watching HD content.... though that means SD content can look rather nasty what with the pixely blocks and compression.

Any way to connect a laptop to the TV using the VGA and use the TV for sound at the same time?

I want use the TV to watch a video that won't play using the TV's media player. Sound from the laptop is not great.
