Today was supposed to be 'D' day for us.

We were to move our mobile home to our site today and had everything ready. All our belongings and everything packed and in the trailer. Home off the blocks and ready to roll. Guy arranged to be here at 9am ready to do the job.

Guess what? Half nine comes and no guy. He wouldn't answer the phone neither. EVENTUALLY get through to him after ringing from 3 different phones and he says 'I'm in bed with flu, I'll be there tomorrow'. When I exclaim that he could have told me, he hung up!!!!!!! I have no idea now if he will actually bother to show up.

What the hell? Don't these people understand that a business arrangement can't be left like that? He now isn't answering any calls or messages. I'm at a loss as this move has to be done this week.

SO so dissapointed and it's not easy to find somebody else to do it instead. :(

Apologies for the rant. Don't know what to do!

Thanks, but I'm not a member of the travelling community. We are living in a mobile home while our house is built.

I am being serious! I'm bloody annoyed too.

How can a business man enter into a verbal agreement to do a job and then not turn up?!
A phone call wouldn't have killed him, surely.

Something similiar happened to me last week but with a taxi. had him booked. time came and went and there was so sign of him. rang him 20 mins in and he forgot he told me. 15 Mins later he showed up. I was gasping for a drink. was very thristy. I was like a fcuking bull. got the taxi to the nearest shop and didn't pay him. He'll twice before he forgets again

Hopefully you can arrange to get it done by someone else at short notice. Of course, don't bother telling that waste of space that his services aren't needed anymore when and if he ever turns up.

Seriously OP don't deal with guys like that. There's only one way guys like that learn and that is to politely tell them to f-off. I know from experience.

It may be an inconvenience to you at the moment buy no one and I mean no one is that irreplaceable. Let him turn up to do the job before you give him the boot though.

It's usually extenuating circumstances, like dying with a flu.
A phone call wouldn't have killed him, surely.

No, you're right. But what's to say he was awake at any stage between just before he started to feel crap and when you woke him up with your constant ringing?

**** happens, you could also cut the lad a break

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 34,418 ✭✭✭✭hondasam

OP I can pm you but it will not help you move the mobile home but it will entertain you while you get it sorted.

Chop down some trees to use as rollers. If the Egyptians could build the pyramids like that, you can surely move a fúcking caravan.

With a name like jippers and living in a caravan :D

Which halting site to you need to be dropped off to or will any old patch of grass alongside the road do?

ring someone else and let the lad turn up tomorrow :D

That explain why he just hung up on the OP?

If somebody is not going to turn up for work due to being ill they're usually required to call in.

The man is like one of those tradesmen around who still let people down and never show up but go crying on Joe Duffy that times are hard and they don't qualify for the dole, bo ho

This lad couldn't be bothered to call the OP with an update. Or even get his wife to call for him if he's sick
So don't bother calling him again and if he shows up, get rid of him.

There are reliable people out there who will work for the OP

I've had the same problem with builders time and time again. Fúck sake you'd swear there wasn't a recession on, they never come when they way they well and when you ring to ask where they are without fail the answer is "Ah yea I'll be there tomorrow mornin' pal". What is it with these fúckers?
