Hi! I am keen on sports and keeping fit in general. I cycle twice a week, play football once a week, Asthanga Yoga once a week and sometimes hit the gym.

I have heard that there are some fitness/bootcamp training sessions on around the Dublin area, I heard of one lasting for 8 weeks near the Guinness Storehouse?

Have any of you done one of these courses?
If so what is involved & did you enjoy it?
    Can you recommend one?

    I appreciate your advice,

    Arequipa.

I highly recommend Pat Divilly - he's excellent and is getting great results with his Bootcamp clients. Best of all, he doesn't resort to the tired army drill-instructor schtick which I see everywhere in Dublin.

Thank you for the reply; Would bootcamp be a good addition to football training, cycling and gym?
Is there much of a variation between the price of these bootcamp courses?

I recently started boot camp and I am in week 5 of the 8 week course. I was a bit weary starting it but I have to say I have really enjoyed it so far. I already played football once a week also.

It really wasn't what I was expecting at all. All classes are different as there is a different instructor each class which is also really good. I've notice myself getting fitter and I'm losing weight (I am on a diet also and have started walking in and out from work)

You'll benefit greatly from bootcamp style classes imo, it will be of particular benefit to your core. I keep quite fit in terms of running a lot but coming into the summer I supplement it with bootcamp classes in preparation for various races etc. You should get a great all round workout from a good instructor and as said above the classes will vary, some may be just core exercises and reps, other intervals and sprints etc. Training in a group also brings that extra bit of competitiveness out in you in comparison to being out on your own.

    Thank you!
Can you recommend any courses for the Northside (Sutton) area of Dublin?
It seems many of them tie you into a monthly payment; are there any courses you can commit to for a few weeks or just week by week to see how you get on? With yoga, football, cycling etc I could only fit in bootcamp training x1 per week!

    Thanks again!

I'm on the south-side so couldn't recommend any unfortunately. You could try their website http://www.bootcampireland.com/

You can buy vouchers rather than pay for the 8 weeks in advance. You just hand over one voucher per class. I think it works out slightly more expensive but you are only paying for classes you attend.

I think the bootcamp classes are fantastic, but I don't think they are enough on their own. You'd want to suppliment them with weights and/or running.

It's a fantastic thing to do over the summer to get you out and about in the sunshine though!!

I recommend healthpro boot camp at the Deer Park Hotel Howth. It's brilliant. I highly recommend it. There is a purpose built outdoor obstacle course where most sessions take place although sometimes we participate in "drills" on the howth and sutton beaches. I've signed up to another 8-week course which begins on the 7th of may.

The Bootcamp Ireland classes really are brilliant, not just for the exercise in the open air, but the social aspect of the class, and the feeling of achievement after a tough session!! I'd highly recommend it! They are also really accommodating if you can't make classes if you are injured etc.
I had a knee injury for 2 weeks recently (pushed it too hard during a class!), and told them I couldn't make it to the classes for a couple of weeks and they just added the classes I missed to the end of my course. They also catch up with you by e-mail after your first week to see how you got on, and do regular fitness assessment tests for their clients.
They are really organised and approachable if you need advice or help. I'm really looking forward to making this a regular part of my life, God knows I need to move the spare tyre!! :)

I did the Bootcamp Ireland saturday classes for a few weeks in Fairview. I enjoyed them because I wanted to do something outdoors while I was in between leagues of football. Good craic, generally a good mix of what you're doing... but 50% of your time is running (200/400m, sprints etc). I'd recommend it. Nice clientele.

I did the bootcamp Ireland one in Fairview park last summer. Found it really good, good mix of training. Circuits and sprints for all levels. Good craic as well, went down on my own and by the second class you chatting to everyone about how wrecked you were after the first!! You will only get out what out what you put in though. Must have been 25/30 people in our group so you not going have an instructer standing over you making you do everything, gotta be willing to do it yourself to an extent.

    Would recommend it though

Just another recommendation: www.keepfit.ie in Ballsbridge (Herbert Park)

Sessions there are based loosely on a rugby training fitness session, and the dude is some sort of psychology consultant (as well as a Rugby Fitness coach/PT) so he's always saying the right thing to get you moving when you've just about run out of fuel.

I did bootcamp with bootcamp Ireland up until about this time last year. I started in Annes Park and finished in Wesley ( moved house) I cannot recommend it highly enough. Not only does it get you fit, bootcamp gets you in the mindset that it takes work to loose weight and get fit, but that its enjoyable and helps you get into the routine of setting aside time to work out every week.
