As the post says I really need a pair of orthotics, Im back working on my feet and they are killing my.

I was in Amphibian King in Bray today and they had a look at my pronation and agreed a good pair of orthotics would help.

The girl was very helpful and gave me a couple of number but I was hoping people here could recommend someone on personal experience.

    Thanks!

My personal views on Orthotics/Overpronation aside, there is a very good fella in Greystones.

Aodhan Mac Subhine or something to that effect.
    From experience.

look up ppl. they provide orthotics through physio and podiatrists they surely have a reccomended list.

ask your professionals if you need a custom or a stock insole.

Thanks I just had a quick look at ppl never heard of them before.

I dont really feel comfortable asking any of my tutors to have a look at me, its not the done thing. As a 3rd year we havnt covered anything on orthotics yet either.

I know hey are quite expensive so I really want to invest in a good, well fitting pair. Iv been having trouble for the last 2 years and have gained a lot of weight so I really just want to get this sorted and get back on track! :):)

might be possibel to approach a tutor in the third person??

a friend has a problem with pronation etc..

i would reckon if they are professional then you'd have nothing to worry about in asking them in confidence

Ah they would and do offer general advice and will happily answer questions on specific problems you are having. But a full assessment would take at about 20 mins and if they it did for one student they would have to offer to all students etc etc.

Im pretty sure from what I saw today and the ongoing symptoms that I will need custom made ones. (although if this is avoidable = woo hoo!)

Iv been wearing pronation specific runners for the last 18months and they didnt help at all.

Well i suppose cost wise its prob better to have custom ones, they last longer i think. ive found mine very durable.

Im not an expert on them by any means but sometimes you just cant been getting a custom fit.

Do you mind me asking how long yours have lasted, Im hoping that I get at least a few years out of them and thats with running at least 30 miles a week and working on my feet for 8 hours 3 days a week.

got mine from David Kingston of the Leinster Clinic in Maynooth. First pair cost me €300 euro for consultation and custom orthotic. They lasted a good two years and slipped easily into most shoes. They were grand for lifting too. Onto my second pair now, bit cheaper because it was essentially just a new set and not a consulatation too. Bit pricey but my health insurance covers a chunk of that.

I had a pair for some 5 years or so.
Then I got new ones, which were a lot sturdier.

    I don't wear them anymore.

what a rip-off. you could have got em for a fraction of that with a public hospital
physio. suppose he made you stump up a deposit included in that?
