Does anyone know of a good free .pst file splitter ?

Lots of $50 ones online alright but does anyone know of a free ( legal ) one available ?

    Cheers

Get Outlook to archive a certain amount of your emails. The archive goes in a separate pst file so you could halve the file size using this method.

if you have an old exchange server you can use exmerge to import / export with rules

many apps can recognise the old pst format , but it has a 2GB limit - far fewer apps will recognise will recognise the newer 2003 format

look into rules in outlook , to semi automate , but you still need outlook - archive is probably your best bet

otherwise look into other mail apps that may read pst's but not many and would take more time than archiving rules in outlook

imap - don't go there , it's just a can of worms when outlook is involved

Why do you need to split it? You could do it manually of course...

    - Close Outlook.
    - Create a copy of your .PST file
    - Open both of them in Outlook.
    - Delete half the emails from one, delete the other half of the emails from the other.
    - Select the "compact now" option for each .PST file to reduce its size (may take some time!).
