What age were you in education until?

What age were you in full time education until or will you be if a student? I'll be 23 when I'm finished my masters and it certainly seems long enough, although many friends will be at least 30 before they are qualified to work in their chosen field, I think you would need to really love what you're doing or love college a hell of a lot to stay that long, Thoughts? :)

Will be 24 by the time I'm finished my Masters this September. I won't be trying or wanting to equal Van Wilder's record anytime soon.

    Finished my gcse's at 16........

The odd course between now & then but full time was 16.

Finshed a 4 year degree when Id just turned 22.

Probably gonna go do a masters in a field relevant to my job but only when I need to/think it'll benefit my career. At the moment it would hinder it by taking the time to do it, and Im perfectly happy to stay out of it for as long as possible! Do NOT miss assignments/deadlines etc!

Let me get this straight, you started a degree at 15 years of age?

For me, I vow to finish before my thirties at least. Very close to a degree now, thankfully. Honestly, I believe age restrictions should be put on degree courses. You really can't have children in College now, can we? Seriously though, anyone below 18 should not be in College. College is a place reserved for those who have reached the age of majority. <18 you can't even legally drink ffs.

yes I started at 15 and suffice it to say I strongly disagree with you

Nobody had a clue about my age until I told them anyway.

Heaven forbid a college be a centre of learning  It really winds me up when people start on about drinking. You're not going to magically stop drinking just because you're not in college. And since college is there to learn as well as socialise, well, not going just because you can't (legally ;) ) drink is ridiculous.
I took a year out before I started already, I wasn't going to take another one "just because I can't legally drink". Ffs.

Fair play considering you were capable at that age. I'm impressed simply because the majority are nowhere near
mature at that stage, hence my position. I do make exceptions for cases like this. I am more surprised by the fact
the college didn't check your age out!

They did check my age, I had to speak to the registrar beforehand. It was grand though after a chat
I just mean from a social point of view nobody had a clue, one of my professors and half my class only found out at the end of 4th year when it came up in conversation

Straight up answer, I left school when I was 13 years old and just a few weeks into secondary school.

I finished a 3 year degree at 21 and walked straight into a job. I'm almost 26 now and been in the same job for 5 years. I'm the youngest in the company, the youngest in my department by 5 years. Wish I had have spent more time and enjoyed college a bit more. Limiting my shenanigans to the weekend is crap.

My housemate is doing another degree now, he is 27. Was only working for 2 years full time since he finished the first one, then went back to get this, he will be 30 finishing!

Practically every person I know who left school at an early age has a very strong work ethic. This is just an observation of mine. Not to degrade peoples efforts, but I think a "typical" degree today is not as valuable as one from say, 20 years ago. Scarcity is key.

More or less the same here.

45, have worked in one job or another since leaving school. Finally ending up in the army and here I am 27yrs later and still serving.

My son (19) is in college and the first in my family to do so, and my daughter will follow him in a few years.

Through hard work, sometimes working two or three jobs (I've always worked at least two!) I've made a good life for us all.. We're living in a nice area, two car family - ya know, we tick all the boxes and I'm very proud of that.

I look at the child my daughter is and wonder, was I really THAT young in my first job - she's just 15.. Oh, my first job was in a slaughter house killing sheep and cattle!.

19 when I sat my finals.

Most colleges do have minimum age requirements btw but as bluewolf points out they will make exceptions on a case by case basis.

How do you finish a Masters at 21? It's 2 years, which means you finished a degree at 19 which means you entered university at 15. How is that possible?

Funny how with determination you can turn things around, You have every reason to be proud.

am back in college doing a full time masters after working for 6 years and then being made redundant

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

If it helps, after the Clinical Doctorate I'll have to do another 2 years part-time in order to be qualified to specialise in my field of interest. And I've noticed the odd grey hair creeping in ;)

I'm 20 and in my final year now but plan on doing a masters.. I'm no mad rush to leave college either! Although its a pain not having that much money, I really like it. And as the aul mammy says, you'll be working long enough!

Only finished my masters at 30 but took a few years off during my degree to work and also between the degree and masters. Also started a course before the degree that I didn't like so left it.
