[Boards.ie server] Someone stole all my paintings!

I made a load of paintings (about 12) and put them on display in a big big room in my mine yesterday and today every last one of them is gone.



I dunno who did it but I want them back.

Dont know if its related but a painting was missing from my house in the town last week but reappeared a few hours later where it had been in the house. Not sure if it was stolen or a glitch though.

i hope it was a glitch, but I doubt it, also work I had done was still there.... I made them on Saturday evening so I dont think there has been a roll back. I have some suspicions but until we get this cleared up just keep an eye on things and lock your boxes.

It could be a glitch. I've noticed a fair bit of fixtures disappearing and then reappearing. Unless it's some bizarre practical joke.

Occaionally they just glitch and disappear but they've always come back for me.

ok lets see if they come back. I was really surprised because I only put them up a day before and they were down in the depths of Moria where no one generally goes (cos they cant find there way out ).

I find it hard to believe anyone would steal them....

I rearranged my house yesterday evening and last night it was back to how it was before so there was some type of glitch or something.

Nah, some other work I did at the same time was still there... BUT, the paintings seem to have reappeared and in their original positions so I believe it was just some weird glitch. I'm glad it was just a glitch...

Absolutely Cherry, thats why I was so shocked!! Its completely unlike anyone on the server to do something like that... I mean, our economy isnt working because everyone just gives away stuff all the time hahah..


Anyway, after some investigation, it turns out that paintings have the same glitch as mobs. If you are killed you sometimes cant see them. Relogging will fix it.

So, mystery solved and I can put away my Nancy Drew costume.

Yeah had a weird one earlier where when I died and came back to where it was I had to massive holes 16x16 all the way to bedrock near my place. I was about to blame an admin for making em.

A relog fixed it tho

Those are glitches in the matrix. I get them all the time. I think it's your connection that causes them. I could be wrong, but I think the game is loaded in those 16x16 chunks, and it's just that those parts of the map didn't load properly. I've passed through them before while on a minecart, so I don't think you fall. But I've always kept away just in case.

You don't always have to log off. You can just walk away from them for a bit and come back. They'll be filled in.

I've walked into one and you kind of bungee jump in the void until the section loads. Bit of a pain cause it can take a fewinutes.

How would it be cool to just walk in and take things that people built themselves? This isnt a free build server you know....


For example, to make those paintings I had to make about 30 wheat and chase down sheep for wool. The craft them and place them. Thats time and effort. If you want nice paintings, you should put that time and effort into it yourself. Just taking them because you "cant be arsed" doing that is rather like just stealing someone's property because you cant be arsed going out to work and make money and buy it for yourself.
Both are wrong for precisely the same reasons.

This is also why we dont let people dig bits out of other peoples houses for their own use.

Eh, no, I don't know. I don't know anything about Minecraft except that somebody did, and then didn't, steal your paintings (which could have been made in MS Paint or scanned in from a crayon drawing for all my knowledge).
