Just saw this posted on facebook re 70.5 billion and what could be done with it..

    http://www.brokenirishbanks.com/

Could build 108 new children's hospitals or 23,500 new primary schools. Amazing really.

So, what would your suggestions be on how to spend 70.5 Billion?

Probably the best idea ever. Could spend whatever was left on an elaborate sprinkler system (EU funded) to ensure crops etc. flourish.

Loan it out to some bankrupt country like Portugal at 8% interest.

I'd invest in in a space program for Ireland, then build a rocket & send Fianna Fail, the Green Party & Mary Harney to the moon.

Ireland is in debt to the tune of €200bn.

The €70bn bank debt is actually closer to €100bn. Then add on the sovereign debt and we're close to €200bn.

    Pretty sad really.

My name is Mr. Snrub (yes, that will do) and I come from some place far away. I think we should invest the money back in the banks!

I think we know that the money they threw in to hospitals was money down the drain, I don't know how they're going to sort that out. I've waited 10 hours in Tallaght before being seen to:mad: What's worse is that there was a really sick old man on a drip kind of machine waiting also before I got there. He was still waiting when I finally got to leave after 4am:mad::mad::mad:
If any of the politicians parents had to go through something like that (you'd imagine surely they have though) I'm sure they'd get the finger out and really really try to sort them out.

But 70Billin, I suppose look after the least well off first and work up from there...

This could be amalgamated with the roof idea,

then if it rained at least it would rain chocolate!

This is like bill time at a steak and cider house restaurant only we're all vegetarian non drinkers. We only had a carrot yet we've to chip in for the half a cow fat cheeks and each of his friends bought.

Was there ever this amount of money in the country?

Create the biggest, cheapest Heroin and Cocaine industries in the world and export them around the world. We would have the money back in a year. Also put development into new more addictive drugs.

Surely it would be cheaper just to shoot them? Besides there isn't a rocket in existence that could handle a payload the size of Harney.

You'd have Scotty in the engine room going "Cap'n! Ah'm givin the Warp engines full throttle, bu' we cannae break orbit with this weight!! "

They'd have a nice soft landing ! But they might bounce off and hurt themselves and sue for personal injuries. Hmmm, tricky call there.

    I'll clarify that for you.

I saw it on facebook yesterday or Friday (think it was on Prime time during the week). Stuck the text into an image and stuck it up on that domain (which i bought).

Cost of domain: $12 (i.e. next to nothing)
Cost of hosting: nothing - stuck it on my own server
Money from Adsense: pennies if any at all.

Is that ok with you? I'll delete the post if it annoys you that much.

Mate had it on facebook (in text format) and thought it was very interesting.

Good idea and we can use it as a puppet state for our Drugs industry and arms dealing. We can also hire the people of Somalia to invade Saudi Arabia and take their oil.

Because it was nothing to do with us. The banks were offering such low interest in their loans that many decided to borrow at those rates and gamble on derivatives and property speculation/development etc.

Just because the banks had the word ''Irish'' in them doesn't mean the customers are Irish.

    Lagos, Nigeria.
    Attention: The President/CEO

    Dear Sir,

    Confidential Business Proposal

Having consulted with my colleagues and based on the information gathered from the Nigerian Chambers Of Commerce And Industry, I have the privilege to request your assistance to transfer the sum of $47,500,000.00 (forty seven million, five hundred thousand United States dollars) into your accounts. The above sum resulted from an over-invoiced contract, executed, commissioned and paid for about five years (5) ago by a foreign contractor. This action was however intentional and since then the fund has been in a suspense account at The Central Bank Of Nigeria Apex Bank.

We are now ready to transfer the fund overseas and that is where you come in. It is important to inform you that as civil servants, we are forbidden to operate a foreign account; that is why we require your assistance. The total sum will be shared as follows: 70% for us, 25% for you and 5% for local and international expenses incidental to the transfer.

The transfer is risk free on both sides. I am an accountant with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). If you find this proposal acceptable, we shall require the following documents:

    (a) your banker's name, telephone, account and fax numbers.

    (b) your private telephone and fax numbers —for confidentiality and easy communication.

    (c) your letter-headed paper stamped and signed.

Alternatively we will furnish you with the text of what to type into your letter-headed paper, along with a breakdown explaining, comprehensively what we require of you. The business will take us thirty (30) working days to accomplish.

    Please reply urgently.

    Best regards

    Howgul Abul Arhu

I'd try this a few times
