basically, I'm looking for the cheapest 3G router available, it doesn't even need to have Wi-Fi just an ethernet port - and be compatible with the vodafone dongle. any suggestions?

Vodafone dongle is meaningless, you need to check the exact model of the modem because there are more than 1.
