Anyone know where there are some good articles explaining what insulin is in the body and what effect it has with nutrition and sports/weightlifting performance?

e.g when someone is 'insulin sensitive' I kinda know it means they store fat easily in their midsection from carbs compared to other people but why exactly is that?Whats the chemical reasoning?

If im going to store fat Im starting to notice its always in my lower back/midsection area first.I think thats somehow inter-related?

I always thought that was just the way fat was typically distributed in the average male. I'd be the same; lower back and sides would be the last area in which I'd lose fat and the first place I'd gain it, followed by my stomach.

I was under the impression that genetics was the sole determinant in such things.

Could it be the notion of spot reduction is a myth but "spot gain" is a possibility dependant on diet?
