Might be worth a text message?

    It's back on lads.

    Where?

Called in to my local O2, they said the deal is only on for people who have been sent a voucher by O2.

Question: Why / how could they send you a voucher if you're not a customer?? :o:o

Answer: They are sending them to ex-customers to get them back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,540 ✭✭✭freeze4real

That's what they told me in Henry Street. But HERE'S THE REAL DEAL:

The promotion is on until 31 March :)

They are giving out vouchers in the Grafton Street O2 :)

How do I know? I went up and got 2! :D:D

Traded one for a Galaxy Europa.

Going back tomorrow to trade the other one for a Nokia X2 or an LG Town C300.

    WHAT'S THE CATCH???

    1. You need an active SIM from another Irish provider. (I've been carrying a spare Meteor phone just for such occasions!)

    2. They only give out a few vouchers. As soon as a queue forms as far as the door, they stop, possibly until the next day.

    3. Queue is slow, about 30 minutes (mainly foreign students, one of them must have spread the word), then you have to come back later once your sim has been de-activated to collect your new phone.

    THAT'S THE REAL DEAL

Nope as an o2 customer for the past few years im given up on them, service is shocking, reception is shocking and their plans are shocking, they are still trying to tell me im on an 18 month contract when i signed a 12 month one, they even asked me to send it in to them so they could see it  i said id send a copy :D

They dont care about their customers in the slightest, just about getting more, pity as they were good at one stage

If I walk into Meteor/Vodafone/3 store and get a free sim, register it, then goto the O2 store with my voucher and give them the number of aforementioned sim, will they port it without question?

Or will they follow similar steps to Vodafone's deal and check your phone for use first?

I know I posted the deal but this question is for anyone who's tried it and succeeded/failed :)

Sorry slightly OT but do Vodafone give out free sims?
I'd imagine that as long as you register the sim they cant do anything about it (although it might take a few days to register and the offer expires soon).

port over your phone number from other network and get a handset for free.

you have to drop into the store personally, and get a golden ticket from promotion staff, and then fill the form & make a selection amount 3 handsets, once your No. is ported over. go back store with 20 euro to pick up the handset from store. :D

    Tickets are very limited.

called dundrum store this morning, and have been told no such a promotion is on . but one of promotion stores is at dundrum on the list, got confused??

I have a vodafone sim that has credit on it and is still active but I haven't used it a few months. I don't have a vodafone phone that I can put it into anymore though.

Can I ask them to port that or will they need to see the phone or see some evidence that I'm actually using that number currently?

The offer is a bit of a joke to be honest, went in this morning to change networks, assuming theyd just offer it to me(the special golden ticket thingy) but the guy said, you have to get a ticket at 12 so come back, i did, and i was competing against about 30 non-nationals, who wernt even queing or anything, were just kinda there, except they were pushing creating a hostile envirnment! I even saw one non-national having a go at one of thw angels, a lad, but the guy was right up in his face, all over a bloody phone. Get a grip!

The organisation of it is a joke, and a big mistake by o2, instead of whoring themselves out for the short term publicity, surely there was a better way to do it?

'They come over here, taking our golden tickets..'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 425 ✭✭Lash_Alert

Not really, just know that in a few days gumtree, adverts, buy and sell etc will be full of these 3 phones, people making a nice 50 euro profit for nothing, and o2 will have very few if any new genuine customers. Just poor business by them i feel

And I guarantee the majority of them are just getting them to sell after picking up free meteor sims.

Durka durka they took our phones!!

Personally I wouldn't even bother going to something like this. The chances of getting it would be almost zero. Its a useless offer.
