There didn't seem to be any thread for this year so I hope it's ok that I started this one.

Has anyone applied to Maples & Calder? Is it just a case of just phoning them up or what did you do? If it is what did you say?! The website is confusing me!

Has anyone heard back from any of the others?! Was rejected by MOP and Cox myself

Yeah thought Maples application procedure looked a bit strange. Hard luck on MOP and Cox. Was it first or second round Cox you didn't get through may I ask?

Kind of starting to give up hope at this stage. Damn awful leaving cert!

Anyone know anything about Mcevoy Partners or Lavelle Coleman Internships either?!

I'd just give her a call and say you're interested in applying. And obviously read up about the company and prepare yourself for a phone interview.

Got a rejection letter for the interviews today so I'm assuming they are next week

Nope haven't heard back from Cox yet.

Wouldn't worry about the Maples telephone conversation - she just gave me the information I needed and made one or two remarks about the weather

Hmm... Don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing that I haven't heard back yet! That was the only interview I got, applied to loads of places! Oh well!

All the major commercial firms have summer programmes for people still in college or recently graduated. they are usually a month long (and paid), and are fantatic experience. its the only way to be sure if you like the corporate firm enviornment, and when it comes to applying for jobs in the future an internship will look very good on the ol CV. because of that the application process is quite competative, and the interview process is actually ,more or less the same as that for the training contracts after you graduate!
also, most of the firms let the past interns skip a step when they are applying for training contracts, at least guranteeing a face to face interview whihc can be a huge advantage!

ive heard back from cox, had the group interview 2 weeks ago and got the rejection letter this week

i rang maples they give you an email to send in your cv!
mcevoy dont do summer interships!

No, I think I was told I would hear from them today re the face-to-face, but haven't heard so I assume that's a no.

I wouldnt say that just yet cause I was told I would hear on Monday 'whether or not' i'd gotten a face to face interview so fingers crossed for the both of us! Mine didnt go well though so maybe you are right!

hey i heard back from MOP about the phone interview on Wednesday and they said they would tell me on friday a time for the face to face interview being held on tuesday the 12th

Mine was for a year long placement.

Interviews were quite different depending on the team!

No word from Maples or Mc Cann as of yet! I think I heard Maples are quite bad at letting you know if you were unsuccessful but that may be hearsay. Anyone been interviewed by A+L yet? How was it?

Got an offer from A&L not 15 minutes ago. After consistent rejections from multiple firms, I'm delighted to say the least!

I wouldn't think that such discussion is appropriate in this fora. I assume you realise that the HR Departments of the firms you are applying to do glance at forums such as these from time to time and that in some instances (yours also I would conject) usernames are a bit of a give away.

It's normally offered through your university! The firms will team up with the college to offer a year long placement to some students between the penultimate and the last year of your degree! And that's exactly what it is! Kind of like a mini-traineeship!

Unfortunately I think you need your university to have a link to get the opportunity though so maybe talk to your law dept?!

Ah, for some reason I was under the impression you had finished your degree and arranged the year long thing unilaterally with the firm, absolutely no idea why I though that
I know about the clinical programmes alright, I considered it myself back in the day but ultimately went for a study abroad instead! Its a great opportunity, hope you get the placement you want
