If i was getting my knee sliced and diced, my main concern would be recovering time, and how long it would take to get back to normal life. And more importantly, how long before i could get back in the gym re-training the strenght back in the joint.

Ask exactly what the problem (ligaments, tendons, bone) was so if you go to a physio afterwards you don't just tell them 'it was a knee problem' when they're helping you with your rehab

If it's your ACL then ask if they are taking the graft from the patella or the hamstring, surgeons normally prefer one or the other, depending on your individual circumstances one may be the better option for you.
