Hey there, I do lots of pull-ups, dips, pushups etc. Can anyone recommend a high quality pair of gloves? I don't mind doing them gloveless but after a while the hands get a bit sore. Can be from the UK/States, don't mind ordering them in.

I was looking at these http://www.harbingerfitness.com/mens.html
    and these http://www.newgrip.com/

    Cheers

I have used gloves on and off and have no problem being "that guy" and I always just used cycling gloves tbh. Light padding in the palm and useful if you suffer with sweaty palms and your gym frowns on chalk. Never seen the need for any speacually designed lifting gloves.

I wouldn't bother with gloves myself. Get a block of chalk, got mine on eBay.

Any places in Ireland that I could just walk in and get lifting chalk?

    Would this be sufficient:

Looking at the pack online its seems to be Magnesium Carbonate as it has MgCO3 on the top right coner of the packet.

it's a bit on the dear side for 200g of it, but yeah, thats essentially what you're looking for

York ones in Argos OP? Think they are approx €12 or so. Save you a delivery charge from ordering online.

It's more expensive than regular chalk, doubt it lasts as long either. I don't think its quite as good but if your gym doesn't let you use normal chalk then go for it.

That's a little pricey, plus I prefer to have a block rather than a bag of powder. A block is much less messy.

This is the stuff I have:

    Lasts for ages.

I much prefer it for training in a 'normal' gym. Lasts way longer per application.

Tbh for almost everything except max deadlifts or heavily grip intensive stuff,
    I'd choose liquid chalk.

Id deffo go chalk over gloves.

When using Kbells and teaching, i used to wear a pair of cycling gloves, then started using chalk and it trumps the gloves for me

I think the only problem with these is they seem to come in "one size fits all", some people have small hands, and some people have monstrous hands ha

Thanks for the responses guys, I do actually use a chalk ball but just wanted something in conjunction when the hands are getting really sore in the last sets. Haha, serious callouses developing!

The liquid chalk is grand for most things alright, but I'm only going to carry one or the other to the gym though. I find the block of chalk last for ages even though I have OCD about reapplying it when there is probably no need.
