Why not apply for it on the EI website.
This will give you the info you are looking for and allow you to do the aptitude tests online...which is the 1st part of the application process.

    Honestly, its a slim chance.:(
The 16 yr age limit is in place because it's a fás based apprentiship.
I'm unfamilliar with Lingus' settup, but am familliar with industry norm.
Understandably, the employer (Lingus) will look for a candidate who is mature and has good 'cop-on' when it comes to basic troubleshooting such as....
-Kettle doesnt work in morning....what now?
-it is plugged in....what now?.....fuses?....try plug elsewhere...now car wont start....etc (its a bad morning!!)
Therefore, I would recommend hanging in there with school taking up Physics for the leaving. It should work in your favour.
    Hope this helps.

I don't see why not, I had just turned 16 when I started my apprenticeship with Aer Lingus back in 1980. I had just finished fifth year in school and was due to return to start sixth year and the leaving cert when I got offered this instead. There were about two or three others of a similar age in my apprenticeship class at the time and as far as I know all of us went on to have long careers in the industry though not all of us stayed with Aer Lingus.
The only difficulties I recall any of us having was in college with the maths, the older guys who had done leaving cert had no difficulties but the younger ones (like myself) struggled a bit with the third level maths having missed the whole of sixth year in school. It wasn't an issue in the post apprenticeship world though, as even now, thirty one years later, I'm rarely asked to 'find x'.....

Go for it, you'll also have the added advantage of being the most youthful looking at your class reunions in twenty five years time....:)

Apply for the Ryanair Engineering apprenticeship at Prestwick, and finish school first theres no chance at the age of 16.

Do not under any circumstances apply for a Ryanair apprenticeship unless you want to be treated like s@#$ by a company that doesn't give two hoots about you and will gladly use you as a pawn in their next game of contract negotiations with whatever airport authority you'll be based at. I've worked for many many different airlines in many corners of the globe (including Ryanair) and I've never encountered such a shabby organisation in my entire career.
There are plenty of good jobs and employers in this industry, Ryanair definitely is not one of them.....

What have you worked as in Ryanair? Your just another Ryanair wingebag who you took money from and then just more likely complained about them every singe day you were in there.

Ryanair is the worlds largest and favourite airline. They do nothing else than offer the cheapest flights accross Europe, the lowest number of delays, the widest range of base choices for its employees and the most environmentally friendly and newest working conditions.

Save your sob stories for yourself. Nobody wants to hear them.

If I was looking for a Ryanair Press Release I'd just visit their website. The last thing I need is to be reading this trash on boards as well.

    World's largest?
    World's favourite?

    Give me a break.

In terms of passenger numbers, they're only the 7th largest airline in the world (2nd in Europe behind Lufthansa). Delta, the largest airline in the world in terms of passengers numbers, carries just over 162.6 million passengers annually.

In terms of fleet size, they're the 10th largest with 272 aircraft.

In terms of number of destinations, they're the 11th largest, with at least 165 destinations.

Where Ryanair claim to be the largest airline in the world, is in terms of international passengers carried, but which can't be proven because theres no statistics recorded just for international passengers. So its about as valid as saying they're the world's favourite airline, which even the most hardcore Ryanair fanboy knows isn't true.

Stop accusing Ryanair as being a bad employer. THEY ARE THE ONLY BLOODING IRISH COMPANY EMPLOYING PEOPLE AT PRESENT!

You dont know anything about them because you havent ever worked for them.

My whole family works for Ryanair and none of them ever complained. They are the only source of employment for Pilots in Ireland. And it looks like its going to stay that way in the long term future.

They employ hundreds of people around Europe every month.

Edit: I just want to say Im not bashing Ryanair, Im just saying get your facts straight.

IM TALKING IN ACTUAL NUMBERS. NOT JUST A FEW FIRST OFFICERS HERE AN THERE OVER THE LAST MONTH.

COMPARE THE AMOUNT OF PILOTS HIRED BY RYANAIR TO THE SUM OF ALL OTHER IRISH AIRLINES AND I CAN GUARANTEE YOU THE SUM WILL BE STILL ONLY A FRACTION OF THE AMOUNT OF PILOTS HIRED BY RYANAIR!

    SO THERE!

First off, Im not getting into an arguement with you. You made a statement and I corrected you, thats all. If your talking actual numbers please say that, just dont write a sweeping statement like that and not get called up on it.

Second, whats with all the writing in caps ? My eyesight is ok. I can read the small letters too. :)

Anyway, this thread should probably be closed as its gone way way off topic. If you want to discuss the creation of jobs by Ryanair v's other companies, you should probably start another thread.

    Regards,
    Mitch

Unacceptable. You attack the persons post if you wish but you don't attack the poster. However strongly you feel about Ryanair because of your family doesnt give you any right to insult anyone.

Next time will be a two week ban.
