g'em, Dead Ed, anyone else who might follow oly lifting.:

Any Ideas which weight classes will be really competitive?
My self and the missus2b are looking at going to the Games next year, I'd like to fit in a session at the lifting.

I can't go to the heavy lads cos they clash with an athletics day I reckon I'd like.
Any suggestions as to what might be a good fight?

Any other discussion pertaining to the subject is encouraged.

It depends on who shows up. If Armnau shows up, the 105s are pretty much sewn up, otherwise there could be a cool Klokov/Dolenga/Schmorchkof fight.

I reckon the 85s could be good if Rybakou and Yong are lifting, there could be a repeat of this:

94s should be good too if Illin/Kolecki are in (Edit: I ain't sure if Kolecki is still competing?)

Looking at the worlds last year, the 77s should be close but I don't really follow it too closely as none of my man-crushes lift in the class :P

I think the 69s and 62s might be sewn up

    56s could be good.

The supers could be awesome but I've a feeling Salimi will have it sewn up.

I'd also go to the wimmins 48s for an ego check, the 75kg class should be good too.

This is really just going on past results and basically anything can happen on the day (bomb outs, dark horses and the like), If I was going and couldn't see the supers it'd be 85-94-105. This is a guess though, it's hard to tell when it's a year out. The entry list would reveal more but I ain't sure when that's being published.

    Thanks for that summary!
We've applied for tickets for the men's 94kg session, purely because it worked in with everything else we wanted to see. Hope we get some tickets for something...

Open to correction but his left arm wasn't locked out so he ended up pressing it out. The jerk has to be one movement. Also in the snatch you cannot press it out (your arms need to be locked out). It was a harsh decision seeing as the belarusian lad was given a bit more leeway. Only one judge red flagged him while all 3 red flagged the chinese lifter

Both those pressout calls would be harsh imo. Good thing Lu did get that last attempt.

Yeah 85's would be the one to go to for me. Rybakou has won two silver medals now and lost out to Lu because he weighed in heavier by .28 kg even though he set a new WR total. Haven't heard much of him since 2008 though. Lu came 5th I think in last year's world's.

77's could be good, Martirosyan won the World's last year after the Olympic champ Lu (different Lu) missed his last two snatches, so there could be a good rematch there. Here it is

Tbh it's very hard to predict anything and I'd just go for whatever weight class you like in terms of lifters.

    I'd go for the 69's, 77's or 85's myself.
