I'd Like to ask if people could kindly update us on the queue status tomorrow.

See I finish work at 4:30 and to be honest Id rather not go try and get an ipad
if the queue is well deep at that time.
So if people could put the name of the store, Where it is and how many people in the queue, would be great.

    Thanks in Advance.

Same here, but I'll be watching from the food court while grown men (and women) turn into scavaging beasts!

Will there really be that much of a demand for an iPad2 ?

I do believe so. But more the fact. Stock is very limited. It did not sell out last year here on the day. Could that be a reason for Apple to send even less stock? As they feel less Irish demand. Sure only time will tell.

5 people outside the Game store on Dawson Street at 8am this morning

I get the impression that they think it's on sale at 9am.

I think the Nintendo 3DS also goes on sale today.

I am pretty sure game don't even have the ipad2. The people outside were waiting for the 3DS.

I waited in a queue for 6 hours in Belfast for the iPhone 4. I booked 2 of them in advance. Was a good experience but I'd never do it again. It just isn't worth it in the end for the sake of perhaps a week. I know stock this time is limited by a few factors e.g. Japan but I wouldn't queue for an Apple product again.

EDIT: Apple.ie has them for €479! Whats with the price drop?

But on topic, best of luck to everyone who does get one and enjoy!

The reason being that most Irish people had already sourced one in the USA, in Belfast on release or in the UK.

Apple will be well aware of this, they know what percentage of the huge amount of sales of any of their product in Belfast goes to the Republic, especially last year when it was still 17.5%.

This year, those factors are no longer there, given the simultaneous roll-out.

I have never wanted something so urgent that I have been willing to Q for it

It is still be here in a few weeks and then you can saunter in at you own discression

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

    I have to agree.
Defo not going to queue and feel a pressure to buy whatever is there just because it was the only thing left by the time you get to buy it. I know guy from work who was in the States and ended up buying iPad2 64Gb Wi-Fi + 3G. He was saying after he was out of Apple reality distortion field he didn’t feel great about it. He was annoyed with himself. . All he wanted was 16Gb wifi one ....

As all these stores are already open, where do people actually queue ? Do they loiter around the Apple display ? :)

Got to assume that any stores expecting a queue will have something in place... Just been in my local Currys here in the City of London and they have a small queueing cordon set up near the tills - all stock is kept behind that counter. No one in the queue at this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭Stonypockets

Most shops in Dublin expect ques and are planning to set up a cordoned off area, this is definitely true of arnotts and pc world.

Small queue starting at the Grafton St. store. We've got the weather for it alright! http://yfrog.com/gz6nrabj

Left Dublin city centre 20 mins ago. No queues then, though was invited to Start one at Arnotts. declined. Will have lunch first.

HMV will only have 5, so they're out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,987 ✭✭✭squonk

You can buy all models still from the Apple Store by the looks of it. Ok. the wait time is 3-4 weeks but surely it beats queuing just to have one today!

That picture is one of the saddest thing I have ever seen. You can see the guy in the front facing the camera is feeling a bit self conscious. And does he have no job to go back to after lunch? Is he really going to stand there for 4 more hours?

Seventeen people queuing outside CompuB as at 1.50pm. Guy inside said the Asian guy at the front was there from opening...

He was also very coy regarding how many units they got but said they were expecting more this afternoon...

My GF got to PC World in Jervis street at 3pm, she was 1st

I left her at 3.30 and there was still only abut 8.

Nice and relaxed atmosphere there too.

From the titbits I've heard each store has around 40.

I joined the queue for CompuB on Grafton Street at 4pm.
At that stage it was back to the Tart with the Cart, I'm 66th in the queue.
    7 people have joined since.
