Flicking through the Dubliner magazine earlier, which had an interview with Dermot Whelan and Jennifer Maguire. A bit of their conversation went as so:

J: Irish comedians, there are f**king loads of you...
D: Why, are we not funny?
    J: No...
D: You have been on boards.ie again haven't you? ''Will somebody please tell me why he is on the television?''
J: Will somebody please just do something about boards.ie? Because that is just for miserable negative people who have no lives.

    Discuss etc

Boards.ie is a mix of all sorts of people. Maybe a little more nerds than the general population, but it most definitely isn't full of miserable, negative people with no lives.

For example, I'm a successful Jamaican who had a smash hit in the early 1990's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,378 ✭✭✭mojesius

Never heard of either of them and I don't care what they think. Bah humbug.

Thank you for your opinion Ms Maguire.
Take heart your thoughts and opinions mean a lot to us, so we shall go to great extremes to follow your wise words, and continue to not give a rats ass what you say.

The head of the nail has been hit on.
Jennifer is guilty of doing such.

    I'm a miserable, negative person...

But by night, I'm a crusader roaming the streets giving help to helpless, hope to the hopeless. I’m an angel keeping watch over the city at night. As violence and darkness take over the streets, I work to rid the city of crime. I’m the symbol this town needs.

Maybe it's because posters have stated how much of a rip-off her Bella Make-over studio was in F&A before.

    Ooooh I wonder.........

But unless they use boards.ie......how do they know what the people that use boards.ie are like?

    *curious rhetorical raptor guy*

I would bet money she's reading this thread now, crying while masturbating.

Hey lady, you just thought of me as you touched your snatch!

Going by this thread it's going to be a gangbang.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,145 ✭✭✭LETHAL LADY

Jennifer didnt impress Alan Sugar and she doesnt impress me and Dermot Whelan needs a good bath.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,072 ✭✭✭✭My name is URL

It's only their misguided opinion. Probably seems justifiable to them by the reaction that similar misguided opinions incur =p

    Vicious circle tbh

And there I was thinking that it was that other unfunny comedian who's rather fond of RTE and nepotism that was having a rant about us again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,555 ✭✭✭Gillington

I'm Dermot Whelan - I managed to turn a ****e TV show even ****er.

I wonder if he'll go on about my bad use of the English language in his next top interview with the Dubliner

I'd cancel my Dubliner subscription but they now give it away inside the Evening Herald. How dreadfully working class.

    Dermot Whealan isn't even funny.

he won't take responsibility for this.

Dermot will probably pin the blame on another autocue. far too witty for him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭St.Spodo

Two tossers, Ireland is full of woefully untalented comedians and terrible people too, for that matter. Life is crap.

    Dermot, you have dodgy hair.

I like Dermot Whelan, I think he does a great job on The Rubberbandits Show, I have no idea who Jennifer Macguire is nor do I care.

Studies have shown that places like boards.ie and the internet in general do involve a high percentage of a certain type of people.

    Miserable negative people
is a bit harsh though but the no lives bit probably does ring true for a lot of repetitive users but not all.

    Probably perspective.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,001 ✭✭✭Mr. Loverman

    Shabba!

Please, don't tell people who I am. I already receive too many fan PMs.

She also said that tracksuits are for athletes and unemployed people.
As an unemployed athlete without a tracksuit I am aghast at my faux pas. :D
    More here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,166 ✭✭✭enda1

I wouldn't say she's completely wrong though. I mean its a very negative place all together boards.ie. Rarely is a positive story thrashed out much, but the stories about child molesters, the government, the banks etc. get on for decades of pages.

She should have generalised so much though, inviting trouble on herself really. I could imagine this thread ending up 4chan style.

Tracksuits are for people who have healthy, active lifestyles.

Aha.. now I know who they are. He's the presenter of Republic of Telly on RTE2 & she's the co-presenter.

I wasn't aware that they were supposed to be comedians.

I'd get more of a laugh from reading AH for half an hour than I would from that show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,692 ✭✭✭Dublin_Gunner

I would almost guaratee that more Irish people would recognise boardsies usernames than those two.

I had to google to find out who they were :o

You need to read further than AH.

There's a whole forum dedicated to lovely stuff. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1292
