    Hey guys!

We've a visitor staying with us for a week next month and she's just landed it on me that she's a vegan  I had to google to see exactly what food restrictions are involved and they're pretty severe to me, seeing as I eat meat with every meal I eat.

I love cooking so it's not an ability thing, but I'm struggling to think of things which I can cook for her which myself and my wife will also like. I've lots of recipes books, but there's no vegan suitable dishes in them.

If you've any recommendations I'd greatly appreciate them :)

    P.S. I don't like salads ;)

I suspect you are going to become very good at cooking lentils, beans and pulses.

Many meat dishes (apart from the obvious like steak) can be made with beans or pulses instead of the meat.

You can get quorn and other meat imitations, but I never think they are worth the trouble.

Quorn isn't vegan anyway. It's got egg in it. Not sure about the other imitation meats, but personally I really like them in vegetable chillis.

How about curry? You'll need to find one that doesn't use cream or yoghurt, but that shouldn't be hard. A biryani maybe? Don't serve it with naan bread though because that's normally got dairy in it.

Soup? Lots of soups you could do - vegetable, carrot and coriander, mushroom, leek and potato... I've got a nice red pepper and chickpea soup recipe somewhere that would be vegan.

Baked potato and beans? Yup, I'm running out of ideas now!

I'm sure the vegetarian and vegan forum people would have lots of good ideas for you.

Nooooo! :) Why would anyone want to eat those things every day!? :)

Thanks to you both for those suggestions though, it's definitely workable, I'm glad it's just for 5 days or so though, I'll have a big juicy steak in the fridge for when she leaves :D

With enough spices, they are not bad. Wouldn't want to live on them, but a few days won't hurt you.
