    There is no proper market for Saorview

    The problem with Saorview is there are simply far too few channels. Even in Freeview light areas in the UK there are 3 multiplexes and around 20 or so channels, 4 of which are HD (with another 2 before Christmas)

    With so many pay alternatives in the ROI carrying far more channels than a measly 7 on Saorview, it's hardly a viable alternative to the pay TV platforms.

    Full Freeview and Freesat offer a reasonable free to air alternative to the likes of Sky, Virgin etc.

    At least if you ditch Sky in the UK you still have terrestrial multi channel TV.

    It's been said before many times but, it's utterly pointless to compare us in this way with our much more populous neighbour.
