    Hi Ladies

I will be at the airport later this week and I need to pick up some new perfume. Do you know when you pass by someone on the street & you get that gorgeous trail of perfume after them, thats what I want :)

I find that after the first hour or so my perfume starts to fade away and have to re-apply. I want something that is going to last that bit longer. I've tried applying huge amounts in the mornings in the hope that it will last the day, however it never works.

Currently I am wearing DKNY Be Delicious and I'm wondering what you ladies are wearing at the min.

I wear Thierry Mugler Angel and Carolina Herrara 212 VIP, love them both. The Angel is very much a night time perfume in my opinion, heavy lavender scents.

If you want the scent to last all day, get the matching body lotion. The two together make for a long lasting scent, and you won't need as much perfume so the bottle will last longer!

Katy Perrys one is goegeous (and the bottle is adorable) and I love Avril Lavignes one.

I'm wearing Dior Addict, I adore it but may switch to a more summery one like Balenciaga Paris. I also like Chanel No.5, Armani Code, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille and Sean John Unforgivable (For Him), just to name a few.
I actually like a lot of colognes, because I'm a huge fan of heavy scents.

I prefer Chanel 19 to 5. I also like Flower by Kenzo for a light, everyday perfume.

I think after a while you just stop being able to smell your own perfume though, it's not that the scent is gone, just that your nose has stopped smelling it. I know I occasionally (absent minded!) have to ask people to smell me to see if I've got perfume on

You might just want to think of those who find strong smells of any kind unpleasant......especially in confined spaces or close to food. I find most people's perfume overpowering - one girl at work puts it on her hair "so that it lasts". I feel physically sick when she comes into my room.

Chanel No 5 and Coco are , my main ones, never get tired of them. Tom Fords Black Orchid. Everytime I wear it someone always stops to ask me what it is. Very night time/winter.

In summer I love SJP Lovely and corvert.

Love Kylie's darling, Noa by cacharel, Britney (the blue bottle) for day time.

I love Dior Pure poision for night time wear (my boyfriend loves it) and Chanel No5 for special occasions! :)

I got the 212 VIP as an Xmas present, I'm defo going to dig that out tonight as I totally forgot about it, until mentioned above.

I've head lots of people mention Chanel No 5.

I'm making a list here as we speak so I can pop it in my bag when I go shopping.

My faves are Lola by Marc Jacobs and Ange ou Demon by Givenchy. Both are quite long-lasting! Lola is quite floral and AoD is more...woody I suppose :)

Currently hopping between ckin2u for her (Calvin Klein), Marc Jacobs Basil Sorbet, Lancome Magnifique and Elizabeth Arden's Provocative.

You can see that my perfume very much depends on my mood.

As far as I've been told (and it was my mum who told me so she might be wrong) Perfume lasts longer than eau de perfume or eau de Toilette. This is because the fragrance is more concentrated in the Perfume as there is less alcohol. The alcohol evaporates from your skin so there is more fragrance left on your skin. This causes the scent from a perfume to last longer.

The thing is that Perfume is very much more expensive, but generally its so much stronger smelling so you use less. I have a few Perfumes (Chanel No. 5 and 19 are my favs) and some eau de toilettes. I generally use the Perfume for a night out and the eau de toilette in the day time. I have had the perfumes for ages tho as you use less (or my just my social life isn't as good as it used to be!).

My no.1 favourite is Gucci for her. Amazing!!!!:) It's so expensive though. Big chunky bottle and very little perfume in it, but my God I love it!

Other than that Narcisco Rodriguez for daytime, lovely and fresh, D&G no. 1 and 3, kinda masculine, which i love, and finally Chanel Allure for evening events!

    This is true.

But the perfume (I think) your talking about is the purest you can get and it is very expensive (imo).

Where as the Eau De Parfum/EDP is pure, but not as pure as the perfume (I think) your talking about.

Chanel - Coco Mademoiselle is my favorite and I get compliments on it all the time. I find it lasts grand but thats probably because its a perfume and not diluted.

    I wear: Marc Jacobs Daisy
I love love love it. I have been wearing it for around 2 years, and was lusting after it for a few months before i got it.
I always get compliments on it or 'oh my god what perfume are you wearing'. Especially if i give someone a hug.
The bottle is so pretty! It comes in lots of editions/ colours. I have had a green lid, and black bottle gold lid. There are also red bottles, and blue lids. There is a new one out with a pink lid with raspberry in it.

anything dkny, some nice mist one from the body shop, and http://www.valentineperfume.com/product_thumbnail_images/t_25144.jpg

I need to find one that's more ok for sensitive skin though, at least one of those is upsetting my neck

I wear kenzo amour and britney spears curious together at the same time.
although at night i just wear kenzo alone cause its quite a heavy perfume. the curious lightens it up a bit- regardless of the fact that its adding more to it! :p

My beautician warned me not to put any perfumes on my neck, I always used to get tiny spots on my neck every few weeks and I was wondering why, she always tells me to spray it on my wrists, clothes and hair, but to avoid anywhere like the chest or neck, the skin is too sensitive to cope with all those chemicals

Oh it's not just me being a delicate flower?

Good idea, I'll keep it to that then :)

just bought the new Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci - it's yummy.............but waiting to empty out a bottle of Organza before I go proper nuts for my new Nina Ricci...........again, like the OP, I was looking for a new perfume, I've worn Tresor and Organza for years, and wanted a change - a buddy gave me a bottle of Burberry for my birthday, but don't know whether I'm going to use it......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,108 ✭✭✭RachaelVO

Chanel No 5 all the way. Love it, love it, love it.

Although I try not to use it all up in a short space of time, the price tag encourages me to use it wisely:o. However I have found that I love The body shop White Musk. I know it's an oldie, but I love it and always get asked what I'm wearing. I tend to stick to the oil, it lasts longer than the spray both in quantity and smell.

also, a word of warning on the body lotions you get with perfumes- they do help the scent last longer but they are also usually quite drying for your skin considering the chemicals they use to make them scented.

I wear Cerruti 1881. I love it, and only a few days ago, the receptionist in a waiting room I was sitting in complimented me on it.

Im alternating between calvin klein eternity summer & miss dior cherie at the moment. Also like the night time ghost for evenings out.

This has become my signature scent. Bought a bottle on holidays in 2008 and haven't stopped wearing it since.

Every single day I get someone commenting on it and smelling me! Two of my friends asked me to get them a bottle cuz they love it and reminds them of me. :)

    It's from Hollister.

I seem to fall in love with perfumes that are difficult to get; Philosophy Pure Grace and Falling in Love are both so nice but you can only get them in the States and Vera Wang Look is my ultimate perfume...I was devastated when they discontinued it. I did manage to get two huge bottles for the price of one and they lasted a year. I've found it on cheapsmells so might take the risk and buy!

    Chanel No. 5.

It's just so soft and feminine...I sometimes wear a few other chanels.....went through a big bottle of coco chanel recently, but I always come back to No.5.

I have loads of perfumes :

My girly one is miss dior cherie, its really feminine and sweet and i get compliments every single day i wear it

My night time perfume is hypnotic poison, love the vanilla and the warmness of this scent, is a bit sexy:o

My boyfriend perfume is j'adore l'or- dior also. This to me is like no 5 but better, its cleaner and not so old lady as no 5. Its very different to the other j'adores though, its new so not too many people have it and my boyfriends goes gaga for it. Its also stronger than eau de parfum so i don't have to bother bringing the bottle with me as it lasts so long.

My summer fragrance is estee lauder bronze goddess, they only sell it in summer and it smells like sun lotion, word of warning is that its light than an eau de toilette so it won't last long at all but its really pretty

My random choice is tom ford black orchid for when i want to mix it up a bit!!!

In the ones i use a lot of i get the shower gel and the body lotion. As other posters said it will make the fragrance last longer and save you a fortune in extra perfume sprays!!!! I don't use the lotion all over my body though just on the areas where i place perfume, like from my hands up to my elbow, on my chest area, dab behind ears, etc

    I love perfume!

My favourite perfume is the blue "Ralph", it has a nice, light, fresh, summery fragrance and is reasonably priced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 361 ✭✭silverspoon

Oh I love perfume...I wear Cerruti 1881 every day, that or Clinique Happy which I've worn for years. I have DKNY's Be Delicious but I find it too strong and cloying, so it doesn't get a whirl very often. My absolute favourite perfume is Beyond Paradise by Estee Lauder, I wear that if I need serious cheering up, or am doing something special during the day, and at night time I wear Calvin Klein's Euphoria.

I never get complimented on my perfume...:(

For years my signature scent was Hugo Boss Woman, the plain one in the circular bottle, everyone knew it was "me".

Moved along last summer to Acqua Di Gioia from Giorgio Armani, it's a gorgeous day scent, really fresh and zingy, kinda reminds me of mojitos, mmm. Have gotten many compliments on it, and a few friends have gone and bought bottles after smelling it on me.

Bought a small bottle of Dior Miss Cherie last Friday night, it was expensive but damn it, it smells sooooo good! I would never have bothered only I was in BT a few weeks ago looking at Dior foundation and while I was there one of the girls was spraying little pink ribbons with Miss Cherie and tying them round your wrist. Didn't mind particularly at the time but left the ribbon on my bedside locker and the scent just lingered there for days, driving me mad as I couldn't figure where this new but lovely smell was coming from. Nothing for it, had to buy some then. Good marketing there, Dior!
