Hi guys, been with them for nearly 2 years, so way longer than the year contract, I dont know if I have to give them written notice or something, or 1 or 2 months notice of cancellation (so they can squeeze more money from us). Should I just cancel DD end of?

Thanks for the responses. Rang up, was put through to memberships, told the relevant person wasnt there, and Id get a call back. I didnt. So I just cancelled the DD. I wouldnt break contract early, but this whole 1-2 months notice to extract even more money, when alot of people wont even have visited the gym in god knows how long, is where I draw the line with being reasonable....

It's not their fault you don't want to go to the gym. Or haven't been there in X amount of time.

I'd suggest giving them another call/drop into them when you can to let them know- will save you a headache later when they start sending you letters asking for money

    hang on.
The OP has signed a years contract and has fufilled this. He can walk anytime - this 1/2 month notice skellys insist on is bull**** on their part once he has done his year.

Cancelling the DD is the best option - it amazes me how mant firms "accidentally" take a DD after you ask them to stop.

No, YOU hang on. If he signed a contract which said he had to give one months notice after his initial 12 months are up then it’s HIS problem. He didn’t have to sign the contract. The month’s notice clause is just as significant as the 12 month one. They’re both terms he accepted.

It p!sses me right off that people come on here complaining about gyms and the crap they pull when they’re only too happy to breach a legally enforceable contract because they’ve changed their mind about something. Accept some f*cking responsibility.

OP in future there's a Consumer Issues forum which might suit these kinds of queries better.
