I love zombies. They have such a grip on popular culture, without being sexed up by Hollywood. It's comforting that zombies really can't be made to twinkle or bicep-ripple.
They are genuinely frightening, an army that has no real motives, they can't be negotiated with. Their potential recruits are EVERYONE. You'll probably have to kill your best friend at some point, lets be honest here.
I mean, we all have zombie plans. Few of us have werewolf plans, or vampire plans.

I love the images and phrasing. Just the line "silence surged softly backwards" gives me goosebumps for realz. When I read it first, I spent ages thinking about what the message was, why there was no one there to take it.

This bit:

If you were offered the opportunity to buy the place you currently live in, would you take it (assuming that you had the money and could afford repayments etc). If not, where would you like to live in Dublin?

Do you think the work you do "matters" and what would you like to get out of work besides money to live on?

If there was something artistic you'd like to accomplish in your lifetime what would it be or have you done it already?

I thought I wanted to do chemistry when I started college, then I realised that I didn't like all the maths.
Then I sort of accidentally ended up in Zoology in second year in college and realised that I fekcing loved it. I loved botany too, and dithered between the two for a while. I made the right choice though.

I don't watch a lot of tv on the tv, but I watch a lot of shows on my laptop. I'm loving South Riding at the moment, it's set in post- WWI rural England.
I like all kinds of things, but I really like the retro theme at the moment, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, etc.

Haven't been to a gig in AAAGGGEEESSS. Probably some random band in Pravda Grand Social.

Macaws that are grey may exist, but Grey Macaws as a species doesn't, as far as I know. You may be thinking of Grey Parrots, which do exist.

That looks like a Grey Parrot. You see. Macaws are part of the parrot family, and many people do (incorrectly) call parrots Macaws. But only some parrots are macaws. But all macaws are parrots. You see?
One of the things that makes a macaw a macaw is the vibrant coloration.
Also, I looked up the Silbey phylogentic book of bird taxanomy and it did not contain a Grey Macaw.

I rarely iron anything. If I feel fancy, I might iron my sheets because ironed sheets are reaaaally nice. I generally just buy clothes that don't need ironing. I do not enjoy it.

It's a small animal. It is a phylum all of its own and it's practically unkillable. It has been frozen, heated, left in the vacum of space for 10 days and still survived. When the wee thing is under threat, it goes into a state of hibernation and stays there until the threat passes.
The smaller forms of life always surprise me, they are frequently more varied and more hardcore than the large ones that get all the media attention.

Not really. I don't do art much. I like Da Vinci's drawings. I saw an exhibit of them in Edinburgh a few years ago, they were wonderful. Even his doodles were better than any one else's

Not exactly. Their tongues go all around their skulls, under the skin. They have muscles in their tongue and cartilage similar to the hyroid bone in humans. (it's at the top of your throat, the bit that *really* hurts when it gets squeezed or pressured)
When they want to stick their tongues out, they relax the muscles and *mmbleh* tongue extudes. When they want to stick it back in again, tighten the muscles and it retacts.



Their tongues are really long because they need to root the grubs out of trees after they've battered a hole with their beaks.
Checkit, their tongue is pointy at the end for stabbing grubs with.



If you think about it, it would be really silly to have the tongue wrapped around the brain. Too easy to cause damage that way. No self-respecting evolution model would have it!
So I guess there is no licking, just harpooning.
