Common Misconception about Gay people

Ladies and Gentlemen (I use both terms loosely) of AH. I have a question, why do str8 ppl automatically assume that just because 2 ppl are gay that they will automatically be attracted to each other? I have ppl in work asking me would I like to go on a date with such and such cause they are gay too. I'm sorry but it takes more than an attraction to ppl of the same gender to interest.

In fairness "I know someone you might get along with go on a date with them" happens in the straight world too
It's a single people thing not a sexuality thing

Judging by the 84 in your username I'd imagine that you're 26/27? It's the same in the straight world as bluewolf said, at this age you can't go out without someone trying to hook you up.
Be happy though, your mates just wanna see you laid :)

I think it might be a slight minority thing. When I was abroad the amount of times people would tell me about another Irish person they knew and that we should meet up just because we were Irish. They thought we'd get on since we had that in common. Not the same thing of course!!

LOL; yeah. I get that occasionally. Plonker I work with said to a Polish colleague today that she should chat to this other girl who came in the room "because she's Polish or Eastern European too".

Mind you, he also said "Paddy" today and last week that he didn't like "gays kissing in public" before hastily adding "or normal people". Oh and a few months ago he said there would be a "race war" because some idiots burnt poppies.

He's going to get a rude awakening one of these days, I'm certain.

according to the girls I know, the best thing about the gays is that they aren't afraid to tell you when you arse looks big in a pair of jeans

    wonder why that is?

Because they're not worried about losing their shot at that for saying the wrong thing.

    Because gays are promiscuous.

    Because gays are promiscuous.

And that answers what question exactly?????? Straight blokes are promiscuous as well, doesn't mean that if I meet a girl that would get on my best friends nerves that I walk up to him and I say "Hey man I just met this person thats a girl so I reckon you'd fancy her, cause she fancies men"

Yeah, but straight blokes are trying to score women - which is harder. Men are promiscuous in general, but straight men find harder to action, since women aren't as inclined.
But when you have 2 gay men, they're both more likely to be up for it & less choosy - that's why your workmates assume you'd probably be up for it with any bloke at any time.
I'm not saying they're right - but you asked WHY they assume that - and that's why.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 528 ✭✭✭Fozzydog3

They also have bad spelling .

For the record I'm not knocking the lads for tryin to set me up I just think its funny that they think that just cause 2 lads are gay they are automatically gonna be interested in each other

More a young version of Alf Garnett. He's really very trying. He is going out for a "mad one" tonight, I'd be quite pleased if he comes in next week sporting a black eye.

Thats a fair enough answer to be honest man, just the inital answer seemed to be a little ambigious!

I'd say it's just down to them being uncomfortable around gay people and just trying to be polite. I notice a lot of people in Ireland do things like this around gay people or black people for instance, they constantly bring up sexuality or race just to show that they're ok with it. I don't think there's any malice in it just people's clumsy way of being nice.

Or Justin Bieber but I suppose he falls into the same category!!! Unless they are 14 years old themselves!!!!

If by 'normal', you mean backward, sexually repressed hilbillys, then you're probably right.

Hilbillies can reproduce, gays can't. Bit of a problem there. Lol.

    Gays can reproduce.

Just because you're gay doesn't mean you don't produce sperm.

Back to biology class for you.

And again your point there is????? there are alot of straight people who can't reproduce due to some anomoly or the other, the hope is that the backwards, sexually repressed hillbillies will have their off spring taken off them and given to some decent people(gay/straight/bi-sexual doesn't really matter) so that said offspring don't grow up to be backwards or sexually repressed

The lower classes and immigrants produce more sprogs than educated white people too. So what. You don't hear them crying out about "rights" and "discrimination".

Sorry themadchef, my excuse is that I didn't wanna post this on the LGBT forum as I would have only gotten serious responses and anything that even remotely challenged full acceptance of LGBT people would have been removed so I wanted the humour and non-censored opinion of AH!!!! I'll keep my gayness down to a minimum on all other threads!

Yeah we never hear of immigrants or "lower classes" wanting to be treated equally............. hang on yeah we do half the election was fought on the promise of making the richer people pay more!!!

If by 'normal', you mean backward, sexually repressed hilbillys, then you're probably right.

If you don't cringe and vomit at the thought of two naked men with abundance of erect penis engaging in sexual acts then there is something wrong with you tbh.
