As in your mammy's house? :P

I'll be shipping out this summer and was wondering what age the average boardsies moved out at? Any tales to go along with it?

    18

And everytime I went home I was told I'm barely eating and wasting away and sit down now and we'll get you a dinner

I blame the Mammy for me putting me on weight :p

It's amazing going home for the weekend

Throw a huge bag of washing in the utility room and when you leave Sunday night the pixies and elves who live there have it all washed, dried and ironed.

    Love those little guys :)

18 and out the door to college, it was great!

Had to move home for 2 months after travelling for a bit and it was torture, I fought with my dad at least once a day over some daft power struggle, my house my rules crap.

Love them and visit regularly and stay over night sometimes but I could never live there again.

    16. Have a great family just took a notion and was too stubborn to go back!

26, Moved out to "live in sin". No real point till then as was youngest and house was empty by that stage.

Grew up in Dublin , went to UCD, could not afford to move out till I had a proper job and then when I got said job, got car and was hardly there anyway. Treated the place like a hotel for a few years, but did my own laundry and cleaning, so was relativly domesticated.

    Bit sad in some respects,

    18 :)

I have no regrets and it's incredible being so independent, I do visit the parents for some home cooking the odd time though

24... had been trying to find a place to move out to for abojt a year before, but never got round to it. work re-located to somewhere tgat the commute was to akward to from the folks so moved out then.

meanwhile... had been doing my own laundry since i was 17 and organising most of me own food from about 19/20... so wasnt really all that dependant on the folks instead of a few times between jobs. and they were short stints as they were.

27, back home for the past two years since my Irish return. I could move out but meh. Why leave mammy in a big house only to move in with a stranger in a crapper house or a ****ty apartment when we're both happy enough with the current situation. I'd rather give her the rent.

I left home at 16...moving out not going far enough, I promptly moved about 200km away. :)

25ish, kind of drifted away. I was staying between 3 different places depending on who I was with or where I was when I needed a shower, food or a kip. I was travelling here and there for a month or two at the time as well. I ended up putting down roots where I am now when I was 29....:)...happy days...

I've seen this thread before & it seems cool to move out as quick as possible.

Well....It's cool if you move out later aswell.

    Sometimes better stories there.

Moved out when I was 18 and moved into student residences. I moved into the first room that I paid for myself at 19 and I've never looked back.

23, one year after finishing university and getting a good job.

I've been home for a couple of months now after a break-up and am moving out again - not a moment too soon!

18 but returned for varying periods over the years thereafter.

Never got this bringing washing home crack though. Surely its as easy to do it oneself as dragging a large manky bag of stinking clothes onto busses/trains ?

18, would have been done for murder if I had stayed there any longer.

It's the best thing I ever did.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,055 ✭✭✭snickerpuss

23 to shack up with himself. I was goin to UCD or volunteering for free before then so couldn't afford to. Also I quite like my family so I didn't mind. I've moved about 5 minutes away mind, haha.
