    Hey guys,

I was on here awhile back talking about me starting out with fitness. As I said in my previous topic I'm a 23 year old male, 5 ft 11 inches and weigh 13 stone. According to my BMI I'm a little bit overweight so I'm looking to get down to 12 stone or so.

I have no fitness experience. I am the classical lazy boy, but I eat fairly well and drink less than most, which has possibly kept my weight down along with my youthful metabolism!

I am trying to get down to 12 by the end of May, if that's possible. I walk up to 40-50 minutes a day, and then go to the gym two-three times a week. At the gym I head straight for the threadmill and try to run 3KM in under 20mins, and I'm trying to get that down by 45 seconds a week to run 3km in 10mins, if I can! I am usually dying after doing that and walk home afterwards.

Diet wise - porridge with honey for breakfast and maybe a slice of brown toast with tea. Lunch would be carrots and celery + hummus, a slice of brown bread for soup and maybe something else like a yogurt or a chocolate rice cake. Then for dinner it would be 'wholesome' - lasagna/ hot pot/ fajitas etc. I make it all myself - love to cook.

After two months of trying this out, I initially went from 13 stone to around 12 and a half stones and now I'm back to a bit over 13. I'm pretty upset about it. I've been at a few work events that had a lot of wine at it, so I'd say it was the alcohol.

Anyoe know how to deal with getting knocked like this? Or have any advice to motivate me or changes to be made to what I do? I can't really do weights for now as I have back problems, just to say!

    Thanks!!

    :)

Maybe start by keeping a food diary, exercise diary and setting some small goals like losing x amount of lbs in x amount of weeks, running x amount of kms in x amount of mins etc.

It will help you to track your progress and should anything bad happen like put on weight again you will know where it was you went wrong and what you need to do more of to correct it.

Dont get upset by it, just learn from it and move on. Its all trial and error and should always be fun.
