    So I'm a 29 yr old female. Weight around 142lb, 5'10 height.

I do spinning classes x 2 times and a body pump class x 2 times weekly.

    Typical days diet would be:

Large bowl porridge for breakfast/lunch (I don't be hungry when I'm in work so can go that late without eating).

Snacks throughout the day would be an apple, orange and banana.

Dinner night be a chicken & veg stir fry with noodles/rice or grilled chicken breast with couscous and sweet potato with brocolli.

    Drink planty of water also.

This may not seem like a lot of food, but it can get a bit of control at the weekends so I try to be good during the week.

I'm starting so see good muscle tone on my arms, which I like. Would I be advised to have a protein shake after my pump class to try and build some more muscle? Are they recommended for women? I don't want to bulk up though. I like the lean, toned look...basically I want to be Jennifer Aniston :D

I take a multivitamin and omega 3 supplements so hopefully I'm getting my all the nutrients in.

    Any advice/critique welcome.

Edit: at the moment I'm no stranger to the bit of chocolate of an evening either :o

Hey Deb.. i'll pop in on this again in a while but we'll get the ball rolling.. First of all the food situation looks grand . You could do probably do with some more protein in the morning and maybe a little more veg a bit earlier in the day but it depends on what your looking for to be honest.

A couple of things to clarify..
How lean/toned do u want to get? ( no offence but jennifer aniston ain't that '' toned'' in my book but different strokes i suppose :) )

Are you doing any other training apart from the Spinning and Pump?

    Thanks for replying chuck.

I also have a 20 min walk in and out to work each day and it would be quite a fast walk. I'm going to try and do a couple of 5k runs per week. I tried it last week and my legs were grand but about half way through I started to get out of breath and was hoping for the traffic lights to give me a few seconds break to catch my breath again. Only way to get better is to keep at it I suppose.

Would you suggest protein first thing in the morning and then the porridge around lunch time? Would the extra calories be bad for my diet or do I need the protein to get more toned? See, I'm clueless :o

Actually, I take back Jennifer Aniston... Cameron Diaz's figure would be my ideal. Or maybe that's worse again!

    Ok.. lets see..
The walk to and from work = All good.
Couple of 5km runs a week = cool but maybe try and mix them up a bit regarding distance aswell as pace ( 3km/5km/7km - intervals/sprints/hills are ur friends here and some reasonably long jogs )

'' I tried it last week and my legs were grand but about half way through I started to get out of breath and was hoping for the traffic lights to give me a few seconds break to catch my breath again. Only way to get better is to keep at it I suppose. '' = this just takes some time to get used to... don't get disheartened. :)

The next part i'm kinda confused about so sorry if i'm not takin it up right.
Your goal is to get '' toned'' ? if so then how '' toned'' would u like to get?

Do you do any bodyweight exercises or weights sessions or is it just the classes that you do?

No, I don't do any other weight lifting other than the body pump. I'm going to start once I get used to lifting weights in the pump class. Seriously, 7kg can be tough sometimes :o

I suppose the look I'm hoping to achieve is a slim, toned, lean look. Not quite fitness model, a bit softer than that maybe.

get some dumbbells at home and you can do all you need to - legs, chest, shoulders, back, arms
pick 2/3 muscle groups and 30 mins every day would see good results
