Gym session for young lad returning from injury

    Hi all,

    I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I wasn't exactly sure where to ask this. I decided on here because I reckon the regular posters might know a thing or two about gym work and injuries.

    I coach a schoolboy soccer team and I have a young lad (15,nearly 16) who picked up a serious knee injury last september. He was told by the physio that he could not do any sports,not even PE in school for about 6 months.

    Now that he is rested for that long he wants to get back into a bit of light training in the club gym. Could anyone recommend a schedule I could give him for starting back. It is a small and simple gym,couple of thread mills,bikes,one each of your basic weight machines,that stepper thing that I never use when I go the gym!

    I just fear,because of his age,he will just go in,try run on the threadmill for half an hour and do his knee in again. So does anyone have an links to schedules that would help him out,tell him to spend 5 mins on one thing and then move onto something else for 5 mins etc.

    And I do realise the best option is to get onto the physio and ask him,but he is actually away for 3 weeks,so until then any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    no advice can be given for an injured athlete until they've been given the go ahead by the physio, you could be asking for a world of trouble there.
