    Limmerblin Falls

The town of Limmerblin Falls has been placed under quarantine due to an as yet, unknown, highly contagious, strain of the flu or possibly rabies. The contagion has had previously unseen affects on human and animal hosts alike. Seemingly unexplained raised aggression, though not so much as considered to be insane or in a simple fit of rage, and a craving or hunger for human flesh accompanies other symptoms such as loss of intelligible speech, consistent fever of 104+ and a loss of motor skills. Infected subjects have been labeled as ‘undead’ but this has yet to be quantified as technically correct.
The local government and other civil services have been rendered completely helpless. The federal government opted for a containment policy rather than immediate eradication, aka small-yield nuclear warhead deployment. They want to understand the contagion - what is it, what it does, and how it came to be. Once so-understood they plan to develop an anti-virus or other such means of immunizing or protecting the remainder of the world’s population.
Present day finds a 30ft tall barricade surrounding the city and cutting it off from the outside world. Approximately 1,000 living humans are living inside the walls. Perhaps some seasoned Survivalists are among this number...

You are a NATO soldier tasked with retrieval of important research data that is believed to be located with in the local CDC branch in Limmerblin Falls. Unconfirmed reports list this complex as the origin of the infection but this is thus far unsubstantiated. Though information is a bit sparse it is assumed that the CDC labs located in Stamford Hospital are your goal.

It is known that were are at least 3 survivor groups still alive and kicking with-in the walls though none is larger than 250 members. Airdrops had been made to building tops when possible to provide medical and basic weapon provisions but none have been made in the last 90 days. Radio contact has also been lost with all groups but aerial surveillance has spied human survivors still in the locales listed below:
    • Limmerblin Falls College is home to one group.
    • Mailbridge Museum and Zoo is home to another
    • The last resides, primarily, in the Outdoorman’s Warehouse store.

No power in the city. Its dark and silent as you take stock of the situation after parachuting into the secure airport, it’s reinforced steel and chain link fence having not been breached. That fence would not be there, or at least not reinforced, had the Air Guard Fighter Wing not been stationed next to the airport.

It’s time to make a decision on a route of travel.

    Options

A - Head directly south to map coordinates 3C. Industrial Park Area. Reports indicate zombie presence in the area is low. Many warehouses and light manufacturing plants.

B - Head to Regional Penitentiary, 3D, east of the airport, which intel says might be a safe place. Survivors spotted in last several days but not many. Unknown how secure it is and a moderate number of zombies were observed in the area.

C - Head SW through the Elmwood golf course towards the general direction of Cuningham RV and Trailer - time to find some big safe wheels to travel on. The only problems are the zombie concentrations seen around the twin fun parks of World of Play and World of Wet Splash Fun Park.... and there are LOTS of zombies at that.

    A
Our objective is Due South, so Due South is the most sensible direction, head for Bailey Street

A yeah due south it is for me too
but i say head to cherokee street....just to be different:D

A- Stick to objective, Down Cherokee, past Bailey, stay on Prairie Ave, maybe get as far as St. Michaels Cathedral.

The pentitentiary is close, and there could be a quick gain of intel from possible survivors in that area. The fact that there has been no contact in a while, suggests that it would be very useful to find a member of the living to get general info.

    B for me.

B, Head for the pen. Jail is a good place to keep criminals in, but also good to keep zombies out. Also leads nicely onto police station hq and firestation hq, all likely locations of survivors with intel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,558 ✭✭✭SmileyPaul

A Head south, if needs be you can cut across to the police head quarters but while it's bright try and make the most of it

Dawn will be upon you shortly, you Quickly gather yourselve toghether, you Cut your parachute loose and watch as it drifts off across the Runway,

some birds are beginnin to chirp, it all seems rather normal, as you head towards the gates you begin to notice a lingering Smell in the air,a stench stale and subtle but everpresent, permeating the ether.

You make it to the Streets, its a reasonably large indusrtial estate with wide streets and large Carparks

You cross the main road and Stop in the Park

    You Survey your gear

    You see St Michael's Cathedral
The area to the front of the building is Barricaded and there are some Braziers around main enterance, it looks as if there has been activity at the site recently

    West
You See a Row of expensive looking houses.
As you survey the street you notice that there are still some Vehicles parked in Driveways, some are open and seem OK

    East
The State Prison and the River

Your inteligence Information reports of a Reasonably large group of survivors including a small group of civilians who took refuge there

SS-E For me, Head for St Michael's Cathedral.

I dont want to get mixed up with a bunch of Ex-prisoners if I dont need to, They probably won't be too welcoming of someone wearing a Uniform.

Generally I would absolutely stay clear of churches as anyone looking for their god to save them from zombies deserves to be eaten.

BUT - since there appears to be recent activity of LIVE people there I will vote for St Micheal's. Its also moving the right direction to your current objective and boots-on-the-ground intel from whoever is there could be most helpful.

Not looking for god, but as an easily defendable area, likely to be survivors with intel.

    West.

Get one of those cars on the street, preferably a jeep. If the door of a car is open, the key may in the ignition, otherwise use soldierly knowledge to hotwire one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,411 ✭✭✭SUNGOD

south east to st michaels for me too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,558 ✭✭✭SmileyPaul

Get me to the church on time! :P

if the car doors are open that means someone FAILED getting in, or was in and then FAILED to get away. thats the most dangerous way
state prison will prolly get us into a messy situation later on in the story :P

From your sheltered position in the park you can just make out the roof and steeple of St Michaels cathedral in the distance. It seems like your best option and it is to the south so it fits in with your plans.
Hopefully it will have some survivors there as you really need some on the ground Intel about the infected , like their strengths & weakness, if they are more active in day or night and how many ways can infection be contracted and long does an infected person have before he turns into one of these poor bastards .
All this information is wanted by my superiors and is almost as important as my main mission and from my point of view I like to know what I’m up against before I kill it.
St Michaels is roughly 2/3 streets away so I pan up and down 3rd street before stepping out and slowly walking down Menloave .
When I turn the corner of Menloave and 4th street I get my first view of the corner of st Michaels it is quite an impressive structure and looks perfect for a safe house with only a handful of very small windows at ground level .
The front of the church is out of sight possibly to the south of the building.
I continue parallel to the church heading south down Menloave until I hit 6th street, from this position I can see the front of the church.
There are numerous cars and trucks scattered across the front of the church and 4/5 fires billowing smoke into the air, a strong wind is swirling the smoke across the front of the church making it hard to make out exactly what sort of condition the church is in.
Through the smoke you can see roughly a dozen shapes gathered around the front door. Its impossible to tell if the door is open or if these shapes are survivors or the infected.
As I scan higher up the church I see a sheet almost black with dirt and smoke with “ help us” written across it underneath in duct tape yesterdays date is spelt out. As I still have no idea of the speed and strength of infected im unsure what to do.

    Do you

1, approach the church from the front using the smoke as camouflage , hoping the shapes are survivors but relying on your shooting skills if they are infected.

2, hide your assault pack and non essential safely before approaching the church from the rear hoping to find an easier way to gain access.

3,hold position and scout out a safe retreat option to secure building before using either your flashlight, whistle or rifle to attract attention of the survivors. Retreat option to be used if the response is hostile.

I'm a bit torn here but.... 2 for me though I've changed my mind twice in the last few minutes.

Option 1 just sounds like a bad idea all the way around...

2 sounds good - but that will mean another trip to get your extra stuff. Still - I'd rather be w/out my extra gear than dead. Move quick. Move quietly and find a way in.

    3. I COMPLETELY agree w/ always having a fallback spot but getting the attention of the survivors from outside could be really dicey and may/will most likely attract Z's to your location.

    So - 2 it is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,833 ✭✭✭phill106

That was quick! I pick 3. I suggest using the flashlight though rather then rifle or whistle to draw the attention of any survivors.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,869 ✭✭✭Mahatma coat

    C
Scout an escape, signal the occupants, DONT Drop your gear

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 361 ✭✭wavehopper1

    2 for me.

Why would survivors be hanging around outside the church? I'm betting they are Zees, so best go to the rear. And I'm all for ditching the non-essential gear, makes it easier to run away if necessar.

2; hide the gear in one of the cars, and head round back

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,677 ✭✭✭deise go deo

Option 3 for me, But use the Flashlight.

A Z probably wouldent take any notice of a flashlight, and it won't attract any from the surrounding area. And you could set yourself up in an easily defendable position with a good line of retreat before you use the Flashlight too.

Ducking down behind a four-by-four, I carefully stow my non-essential gear underneath the carriage: I wedge my assault rucksack with some difficulty followed by all the unnecessary crap that our idiot superiors make us lug along.

Keeping on the sidewalk so that vehicles are between myself and the moving shapes at the front entrance of the church, I move in a crouched position towards the rear of the church. There are two small gated entrances into the church grounds and both are chained and padlocked. Standing in front of the nearest gate I peer through the railings. A small path leads to wooden doors, but there is nobody in sight. I mull over using the boltcutters or the lock pick, and decide that I may want to shut the lock after I've opened it. I'm a soldier, not a professional thief so it takes minutes before I ease the padlock open. Once I've succeeded, I take one last look down the road I approached from. I spot movement towards the end of the road and I see two figures stealthily retrieve the gear I'd stuffed under the jeep and make themselves scarce. "Oh crap", I mutter. "Clearly, people aren't to be trusted in this town.". Having learned my lesson, I lock the gate behind me.

I ease the wooden church door open and step inside. Light is provided via stained glass windows high on the walls. It illuminates the pews in front of the alter, and I get a side view of a several rows of people knelt in prayer, their heads bowed, there lips moving in unison but making no sound. Two men in robes are kneeling at the altar rail, their hands clasped together.

Peering further into the church, I spot another group huddled together but seemingly more animated. They are crouched around what appears to be a map. One of them is pointing at different spots on the map, and there is a quiet but intense discussion taking place with various members nodding or shaking their heads.

Turning my head upwards, I gaze towards the area on the upper floor where the choir is usually seated. It is above the front door, and I count four people with their backs turned to me. They are looking out the windows and each is holding a rifle of some sort. As I look on, one of the four moves from window to window, pausing with a hand on the shoulder of each watcher. I step back further behind a pillar as he turns and scans the interior of the church, then turns back to looking outwards.

    Time. Monday, 11.00 AM
    Do I
    A. Attract the attention of the nearest kneeling priest. This is his house, so I'll introduce myself, and ask him to help me talk to any useful people in the church.

    B. Walk down the side corridor and approach the group huddled around the map. They are clearly making plans, hopefully on the basis of intel that will be useful to me.

    C. Mount the stone stairs and make my way to the choral area. Those who have stepped up to the mark to act as guards and lookouts are the ones I need to connect with.

    I vote for C.

I want Intel, not to get caught up in other peoples problems, they might also know who nicked my stuff.
Also walking straight up to the group with the map will lead to 'How the F.. did you get in'? Landing the senturies in hot water, I don't want to piss off guys with guns, especially when they could be useful as friends.
