Is it the thing that plugs into the thing?

    .

On the bottom picture there is a glimpse of a finger and if you look at the 'pins' there are burn marks on the ends of some of them.

This is a plug of some sort is it not?

Other things plug into it, but it's not a plug itself

Is that photo taken with an x-ray machine? I doubt any car maker would bother with something so complicated looking. Looks to me like an x-ray photo zoomed and magnified.

Force fit pins along the outside of the thingy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,819 ✭✭✭✭peasant

It's the insides of a 1980's VW "Zentralektrik"

A printed circuit board ...only that it isn't printed but stamped out of metal and assembled instead.

This particular one is from a VW Transporter, but all 80's VW's had similar thingies inside their fuse boxes.

    Dean09 ...over to you

It was ancient and was investigated by Toyota while they were developing the iQ.

Its quiet sophisticated and in the end very successful.

Now if you said hydrolastic I'd be willing to let the ancient tag go with it....but then again it wouldn't be air suspension
