Unless you're Sinn Fein, a militant atheist or, eh, Sarah Palin's Paddy cousin.

    I have just one question.

How much is all this going to cost?

    Too much!
Aaa sure we can afford it!
We'll get another tax to pay for it all.

The most powerful man on earth.

A woman better than everyone else by virtue of the fact she was born.

And God's representative on earth who covers up the rape of children and then defends his actions.

1 of these deserves a bullet.

    3 bullets.

One in the head and two in the chest.
    ...Just to be sure.

    I jest.
We shouldn't stoop to that level. We can be better than that!

Yeah your're right Biggins, a bomb would be far better.

Why can't they organize the Queen and the Pope's visit to run concurrently.

This would save heaps on Garda overtime, security, riot equipment plus it would be cheaper to book one weekend out of the country instead of two.

Hope there's no construction on O'Connell St. this time...

Two of those are complete cnuts who can fcuk right off and pay for their own security.

Obama seems like a cool guy but as if any member of the general public will get a glimpse of him.

The pope will love his time in the republic.

    Maybe this will come true?

The Pope and the Queen of England are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd. Her Majesty and His Holiness, however, have seen it all before, so to make it a little more interesting, the Queen says to the Pope, “Did you know that with just one little wave of my hand I can make every English person in the crowd go wild?”

He doubts it, so she shows him. Sure enough, the royal-gloved wave elicits rapture and cheering from every Englishman in the crowd. Gradually, the cheering subsides. The Pope, not wanting to be out done by someone wearing a worse frock and hat than he, considers what he could do. “Your Majesty, that was impressive. But did you known that with just one little nod of my head I can make every Irish person in the crowd go crazy with joy?"

"This joy will not be a momentary display like that of your subjects, but will go deep into their hearts, and they will forever speak of this day and rejoice.” The Queen seriously doubts this, and says so - “One little nod of your head and all Irish people will rejoice forever? Show me.” So the Pope headbutts the old bitch!.

1979 Pheonix Park chosen venue for Dublin's Papal Mass.
    Capacity 1,000,000+

2011 Croke Park proposed venue of the Dublin Papal mass
    Maximum Capacity 82,300.

How times have changed to the better in the last 30 years. :D

That's a great visual example of how much the church has declined in the last couple of decades...
A very welcome change imo :)

Obama and Queenie I couldn't give a **** about. But the Pope? That'll be fun. I know his Popemobile has bulletproof glass, but they never said anything about open-bag-of-flourproof glass!

I wasnt aware that militant atheists, what ever they are, are the only people who disapprove of corruption, institutionalised global cover ups of child rape, bizzarre notions on condoms being weedled into countries rife with HIV and over population, the attitude that women are second class citizens etc etc etc et-bloody-c
    Ya live and learn eh;)
But Im sure the cultural Catholics we have here will not think too hard about any of this due to it taking them out of their comfort zones and will welcome him warmly.
But would they let him baby sit?

Hopefully he stays south of the boarder. I do hope the majority of Protestants can just ignore him if he comes up to the 6 counties of Ulster in Northern Ireland.

and what if he decided to visit Catholic community in the north Keith?

How is it different than the queen visiting Ireland, after all, they are both the heads of minority churches whit histories of abuse, murder, war and countless other crimes...

The pope is just an ordinary man dressed up in a religious costume and the sooner the people realize this the better.

Ah sure won't it be great for the auld tourism. Hopefully no scumbags take to the streets in protest of his visit to show the country up as an intolerant kip. He's the head of a sovereign state after all, and people should show the world that we've matured and respect his visit and blah blah blah

Nowadays, i imagine you would probably get more Irish protesters on the street against the pope than the Queen.

I think people have the right to protest his or Brenda's visit, in much the same way as they have to line up and applaud the visitors. Or ignore them.

They'll just be peaceful atheist protesters with ironic posters. Nothing that would turn tourists away

I imagine there will be a sizeable amount of people who will be loudly voicing their concern over clerical abuse in the RCC. They may well still be practising Catholics, despite their horrific experiences.

He is a head of state, not just a man in frock and should be treated like just another state visit.
