Mayan leaders and scholars of Mayan culture and goodness knows how many other historians have said that the 2012 craze is a complete departure from what the Mayan's actually believed about their calender. The 2012 apocalypse is pure crack pot nonsense that a few entrepreneurial types have latched on to the milk the gullible.

it has started allready,keep your eye on the big news stories this year

this italian cruise liner that has sunken is only the begining,we will see more violent hurricanes, mayb a tsunami or an earthquake or 2,maybe some plane crashes, some countries revolting against their governments,america goin to war with more arab countries,the fall of the euro,people eating each other,then finally the rise of the apes

I've owned a few calendars in my lifetime, and all them have run out without any major ill-consequences.

The stuff about planet Nibiru is utter utter trousers. So stupid.
I predict we'll pass through 2012 without significantly more than the usual amount of violence and natural disaster.

EDIT: Barring a world war or something of that nature. I don't see this happening this year, and if it did I reckon it would take a few months to really get mobilized. Other world wars have come and gone, and none of them have been the end of the world.
